With a First Round of 327, Women's Golf Opens 2017 MAC Championship

First Round Results
SILVER LAKE, Ohio – The Bowling Green women's golf program kicked off the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships Friday afternoon at the Silver Lake Country Club with a team score of 327, +39. The Falcons combined for 41 par scores and five birdies through the first 18 holes of competition.
Sophomore Erin Fahey tops the Falcons lineup with a first round score of 79, +7, met by eight par scores and a team-leading three birdies. A native of Austin, Texas, Fahey also leads the Falcons with a 4.30, +3 average on par 4 scoring, in addition to averaging 3.25, +1 on par 3 holes to sit in a tie for 23rd overall in a field of 49 players.
Senior Fran Rodriguez posted a team-leading nine par scores on her way to carding a round of 81, +9 in the first of three days of competition. The Flower Mound, Texas native is currently tied for 36th overall by averaging 5.25, +1 on par 5 holes, a best for the Falcons thus far.
Freshman Jessica Madry has carded a first round of 83, +11 by topping the team with 2.75, -1 average on par 3 holes, ranking second-best of the tournament after the first round. Currently tied for 41st overall, Madry has tallied eight par scores and two birdies after 18 holes of competition.
Making her fourth appearance in the team lineup is sophomore Julia Durkin, who produced a round of 84, +12 in Friday's action. A native of Miramar, Fla., Durkin has posted a team-leading nine birdies thus far, and has excelled on par 5 holes, averaging 5.50, +2 strokes.
Rounding out the Bowling Green lineup is junior Madelynn Swank. A native of Clarendon Hill, Ill., Swank opened the MAC Championships with a round of 88, +16 by tallying seven par scores. Additionally, Swank has averaged 3.75, +3 on par 3 holes.
18-time Defending Champion Kent State currently tops the leaderboard by a first round team score of 289, +1. The Golden Flashes' Pimnipa Panthong, Wad Phaewchimplee and Karoline Stormo are tied for first in the individual competition with even first round scores of 72.
