BGSU Closes Out Day One At Cardinal Classic By Climbing Leaderboard

YORKTOWN, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf program carded team rounds of 311 and 306 (617, +41) to end the day in 14th place on the team leaderboard at the Cardinal Classic. The three-round event is being hosted by Ball State University and played at The Players Club.
The Falcons inched their way up the leaderboard, improving their position in the tournament in the second round of play. As it sits, the Falcons are ahead of Drake (618), Northern Kentucky (622), Dayton (629), Fort Wayne (633) and Evansville (647).
Bowling Green jumped both Drake and Northern Kentucky in the second round, despite trailing by six strokes and one stroke, respectively, after the first 18 holes. The Falcons are within four strokes of Central Michigan (613).
Indianapolis (569) has a seven-stroke lead, with Bradley (576) and Toledo (580) rounding out the top three. A total of 20 teams are at the 54-hole event. However, Indiana's players are only competing as individuals.
"It was good to see us start to come back in the second round," said head coach Stephanie Young. "Erin Fahey and Julia Durkin really were the spark for us this afternoon."
