YORKTOWN, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team concluded play at the Cardinal Classic on Tuesday (Sept. 19) afternoon by shooting a round-three 306 to finish the event tied for 14th out of 19 schools. The Falcons shot a total team score of 923 (+59) for the 54-hole event that was hosted by Ball State University and played at The Players Club.

After shooting a 311 in the first round, the Orange and Brown carded scores of 306 in each of the final two rounds. Bowling Green finished ahead of Dayton (936), Fort Wayne (943), Northern Kentucky (945) and Evansville (977). BGSU finish tied with Drake.

Bowling Green was led by Julia Durkin, who had the best tournament of her career. Durkin finish tied for 27th with a career-low 224 (79, 73, 72), while carding the best 18-hole scores of her career in each of the final two rounds. Erin Fahey also finished in the top 30, as she finished tied for 29th with a 225 (77, 72, 76).

"We had a lot of good holes, including eight birdies and only one score higher than a bogey as a team," said head coach Stephanie Young. "Unfortunately, we just couldn't convert enough up and downs over the course of the day. There are some things we need to work on, and then we will head head to Michigan State."

* Julia Durkin posted a career-low 224, shattering her previous 54-hole low of 243.
* Durkin set 18-hole career lows by shooting a 73 in round two and a 72 in round three. Heading into the event, Durkin's 18-hole low was a 77.
* For the first time in her career, Durkin posted scores below an 80 in every round of a tournament.
* Erin Fahey led the Falcons with nine birdies across the three-round tournament.
* This week's Cardinal Classic marked the 16th three-round tournament that Fahey has competed in. Her 225 is tied for the second-best mark of her career.
* Nichole Cox carded consecutive rounds of 77 to conclude the tournament by finishing tied for 53rd.
* After posting an 80 last week to start the Redbird Invitational, Cox has scored no higher than a 78 in each of the next five rounds.
* Sarah Kern's 77 in round one is a top-five score in her career.
* In just the second tournament of her career, Sammi Blackburn posted a birdie in all three rounds, while also scoring a 79 or better this week for the second time in her career.

TEAM TIDBITS
* Bowling Green has now opened the season with a pair of 54-hole team scores that rank inside the top 10 in program history.
* After shooting a 921 at the Redbird Invitational last week, which ranks eighth-best in school history, the Falcons carded a 923 at the Cardinal Classic, which ranks ninth-best in program history.
* For the tournament, Bowling Green carded 28 birdies, which was more than eight schools.
* Bowling Green now has 60 birdies on the season, an average of 10 per 18 holes.
* Out of six rounds on the season, Bowling Green has posted three 18-hole scores of 306, on top of a team-low of 304.
* All five Falcons in the lineup posted at least one birdie in the third round.
* On the day, Bowling Green, as a team, marked just one score above a bogey.
