Durkin Leads Falcons In Final Day Of Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team concluded play at the Cardinal Classic on Tuesday (Sept. 19) afternoon by shooting a round-three 306 to finish the event tied for 14th out of 19 schools. The Falcons shot a total team score of 923 (+59) for the 54-hole event that was hosted by Ball State University and played at The Players Club.

After shooting a 311 in the first round, the Orange and Brown carded scores of 306 in each of the final two rounds. Bowling Green finished ahead of Dayton (936), Fort Wayne (943), Northern Kentucky (945) and Evansville (977). BGSU finish tied with Drake.

Bowling Green was led by Julia Durkin, who had the best tournament of her career. Durkin finish tied for 27th with a career-low 224 (79, 73, 72), while carding the best 18-hole scores of her career in each of the final two rounds. Erin Fahey also finished in the top 30, as she finished tied for 29th with a 225 (77, 72, 76).

"We had a lot of good holes, including eight birdies and only one score higher than a bogey as a team," said head coach Stephanie Young. "Unfortunately, we just couldn't convert enough up and downs over the course of the day. There are some things we need to work on, and then we will head head to Michigan State."
