BGSU Climbs Leaderboard To Close Out Bearkat Invitational

MAGNOLIA, Texas – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team concluded play at the Bearkat Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 2) afternoon. After beginning the day in seventh place, the Falcons carded a final round team score of 307, moving up one spot on the 14-school team leaderboard. The event, which was hosted by Sam Houston State, was played at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas.

Bowling Green posted rounds of 310 and 305 yesterday, finishing with a 54-hole team score of 922. BGSU was six shots behind UT Rio Grande Valley heading into the day, but made up nine shots on UTRGV to climb the leaderboard. Sam Houston State won the event by registering an 877.

Katie Whitfield (225) was BGSU's low finisher. The freshman recorded a final-round 74 to finish tied for 12th. Texan Erin Fahey (226) shot a 76 on the day to finish tied for 16th. Whitfield and Fahey led Bowling Green on the day with three birdies and two birdies, respectively.

Fellow Texan Jessica Madry (245) and Julia Durkin (234) posted one birdie apiece, while Nichole Cox (244) bettered her round-two score by one stroke to finish out the tournament. After posting a pair of 79's to open the tournament, Durkin carded a 76 in round three.
