Bowling Green Prepares For Shirley Spork Invitational

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team makes the short trip to Ypsilanti next week to compete in the second-annual Shirley Spork Invitational over Oct. 8-9. The tournament, which is being hosted by Eastern Michigan, will be played at the Eagle Crest Golf Club.
BGSU AT THE SHIRLEY SPORK INVITATIONAL
• The Falcons finished in second of 10 schools at last year's inaugural Shirley Spork Invitational. Bowling Green posted a 54-hole 912, finishing ahead of the four other MAC schools at the event.
• Nichole Cox (T-5) and Erin Fahey (T-10) registered top-10 finishes, while all six Falcons that competed finished inside the top 35.
• This year's tournament also features a 10-team field: Eastern Michigan (hosts), Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Loyola-Chicago, Oakland, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Western Michigan, Dayton and Michigan (individuals only).
• Play will begin on Monday, Oct. 8 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Monday will feature 36 holes of golf. The final 18 holes of action will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

STRONG FALL SEASON FOR THE FALCONS
• Through three events this fall, Bowling Green has shown it will be a factor every week.
• After a pair of top-five finishes at the Redbird Invitational (5th Place / 14 Schools) and Cardinal Classic (5th Place / 16 Schools), Bowling Green traveled down to Texas to compete in a loaded field at the Bearkat Invitational.
• BGSU finished in sixth place out of 14 schools in a field that featured predominantly Texas schools.
• Senior Erin Fahey has finished in the top two in Bowling Green's lineup each tournament in 2018-19, while freshman Katie Whitfield has been BG's top finisher in each of the last two events.
