Falcon Swimming and Diving Finish Third Overall In Day One Of Zippy Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team concluded the first day of the Zippy Invitational in third place with 381 points. Hosts Akron finished first with 734.5 points, and Buffalo finished second ahead of the Falcons with 482.5 points.
In relays, two teams of Falcon swimmers finished among the top five, while one Falcon team finished in the top 10. Overall, Falcon athletes were the best five in four events throughout the first day of the Zippy Invitational, and within the top 10 in seven events.
FIRST-FIVE FALCONS
• In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Franziska Wohlert, Noelle Lavigne, Anna Eriksson, and Ashleigh Franks finished in fifth with a time of 1:34.01.
• Daisy Platts, Nikki Borgerding, Sarah Hennings, and Wohlert finished in the No. 4 spot of the 400-yard medley relay final.
• Daisy Platts picked up a second top-five finish after placing fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.07.
• In the 1-meter diving evet, Claire Stam earned a fourth place finish after being awarded 228.55 points.
TOP-TEN FALCONS
• Maddy Andrews placed in ninth with time of 5:00.29 in the 500-yard freestyle.
• Jordan Andrusak finished four spots (eighth) behind Daisy Platts in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.02.
• Three Falcons finished in the top ten in prelims of the 200 IM. Platts finished sixth at 2:04.05, Andrusak finished eighth at 2:04.68, and Emily Verbrugge finished behind Platts with a time of 2:04.74.
• In the 50-yard freestyle final, Wohlert finished eighth with a time of 23.45. Prior to the final, Wohlert also finished eighth in prelims of the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.38. Eriksson finished in ninth behind Wohlert in the same prelim with a time of 23.42.
• In diving prelims, Stam and Ashley White finished eighth (222.65) and ninth (221.75), respectively, in 1-meter diving.
• In the 400-yard medley relay final, Lauren Sullivan, Andrusak, Eriksson, and Franks finished ninth with a time of 3:48.92.
