LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf program split its matches at Day 1 of the Mid-American Match Play Challenge. The Falcons won their opening round over Central Michigan, 3-2-0, before dropping a quarterfinal-round match to Northern Illinois, 4-1-0.
Sarah Kern (6&5), Jessica Madry (3&1) and Sammi Blackburn (2&1) earned wins in their opening-round match against individuals from Central Michigan. Nichole Cox (2&1) was Bowling Green's winner in the dropped match to Northern Illinois.
"We were excited to start off strong today, but weren't able to get the win this afternoon," said head coach Stephanie Young. "However, we know we will get two more matches tomorrow and look forward to competing!"
The Falcons open tomorrow with a consolation competition versus No. 4-seeded Akron. That round will begin at approximately 8:25 a.m. Below are full results from today's match play action.
