Falcons Finish Fourth At ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout

TROPHY, Texas – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team carded a final-round team score of 312 on Wednesday (March 21) to finish in fourth place at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout. A total of seven teams competed in the three-round event.
Bowling Green improved its team score each round. The Falcons shot a 324 in the opening round, before carding rounds of 315 and 312 to finish the event with a score of 951. BGSU finished ahead of Stephen F. Austin State (955), Florida Atlantic (959) and Creighton (962). Northern Iowa shot a 922 to take first place.
Erin Fahey (77-76-75—228) improved after each round of play, and finished tied for fourth. Fahey has now finished in the top-10 at a tournament a total of 11 times. By finishing fourth, she posted the sixth top-five finish of her career.
Nichole Cox carded a team-low 73 in the final round to finish in seventh place with a score of 231. Cox has finished in the top-10 a total of four times in her young Falcon career. Jessica Madry finished tied for 13th. Competing as an individual, Madry (237) shot a 76 on the day, marking her lowest round of the event.
Bowling Green's lineup was rounded out by performances from Sarah Kern (249), Sammi Blackburn (254) and Julia Durkin (257). Following a trend on the day, Kern posted her best round of the weekend, as well, as she carded a 78.

"We reached a team goal of shooting our lowest round of the tournament, but fell short of our goal to move up the leaderboard. It was encouraging to have three players in the top-15. We are looking forward to the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational in just a couple of weeks."
