Falcons Set To Host Dolores Black Falcon Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team is set to host the eighth-annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational this weekend at Stone Ridge Golf Club. The 36-hole event will run from April 7-8. The tournament marks BGSU's only home event of the season.
TIME CHANGES
• In order to try to avoid potential inclement weather, time changes have already been implemented for this year's tournament.
• On Saturday, April 7, play will begin at 12 p.m., while on Sunday, April 8, action will get underway at 11 a.m.
• Both days will get started with shotgun starts.
THE DOLORES BLACK FALCON INVITATIONAL
• This year's field consists of 16 teams.
• The 2018 field consists of: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Findlay, Illinois-Chicago, Indianapolis, Lawrence Tech, Oakland, Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan and Youngstown State.
• Bowling Green posted its best finish at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational in 2016-17. During that season, Bowling Green carded a 630 team score to finish second at the event.



BLACK AND SPORK RETURN TO BGSU
• Both Dolores Black and Shirley Spork will be at the event this weekend in Bowling Green. Both have played major roles for the game of golf at BGSU.
• Black, the individual in which the tournament is named after, was the head coach for the women's golf program at Bowling Green from 1969-1976. Her 1974-75 team won a state championship.
• After BGSU, Spork went on to become of the 13 co-founders for the LPGA Tour. One of her greatest achievements involved initiating the teaching divisions for the LPGA in 1959.
