
Chasatea Brown Leads Falcons On Day Two Of Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, N.C. – The Bowling Green State University track and field team concluded the opening weekend of the outdoor season with impressive results at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State. Sophomore Chasatea Brown moved into the top 10 in school history in the 400 hurdles and then ran a leg of the 800 relay team that posted the third-fastest time in program history.

BROWN BRINGS THE SPEED
- Chasatea Brown ran the 400 hurdles in 1:01.51 to place sixth Saturday. She trimmed more than 2.5 seconds off her personal best from a year ago and moved into the top 10 in program history.
- Brown's time was the fastest for a BGSU student-athlete since 2015 and moves her into seventh in school history, passing Kathy Frase (1987), Demetra Taylor (2013) and Deb Romsak (1976).
- Brown also ran a leg on the 800 relay team that was fourth at the Raleigh Relays in 1:38.02. That time was third in school history and less than a second shy of the school record time of 1:37.80 set by Jeanette Pettigrew, Taylor Rambo, Brittany Sinclair and Allison Weimer in 2013.
ROCKIN' THE RELAYS
- Chasatea Brown, Mis'cha Sellers, Cortisha Short and Ryen Draper ran the 800 relay in 1:38.02. That time was third in school history and just .22 seconds shy of the school record.
- The 1600 relay team ran a 3:53.07 to finish 15th at the meet.
OTHER NOTABLE EFFORTS
- Cortisha Short opened the outdoor campaign with a time of 24.99 seconds in the 200. That was faster than her season-best time of 25.11 during the indoor campaign.
- Elizabeth Iversen threw the hammer 49.44m (162-2) to lead three Falcons Saturday. In her first outdoor meet, redshirt freshman Daija Young was just behind at 47.61m (156-2).

- BGSU will hold its only home meet of the season Friday as the Falcons host Toledo in the annual Battle of I-75. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 pm at Whittaker Track.
