Tennis to Continue Competition in California and at Ohio State

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green tennis program (6-3) continues competition this weekend, as it takes on Azusa Pacific (6-2) on Thursday, March 8 and Ohio State (5-3) on Tuesday, March 13. Both taking place on the road, the match at Azusa Pacific is set for a 1:30 local / 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time first serve, while the match at Ohio State is set for a 5 p.m. start.

Most recently, the Bowling Green tennis program was able to down Detroit by a 4-0 score. The Falcons picked up a road victory when they earned two doubles and three singles victories on the day. For their efforts on the week, the pairing of sophomore Marharita-Sophia Tavpash and junior Paula Comella was named Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week, while Comella was also honored as MAC Singles Player of the Week.
Last season versus Ohio State, the Falcons fell to then-No. 6 Ohio State 7-0. It will also be the first time in program history that the Falcons have faced Azusa Pacific.
Located in Azusa, Calif. and based at the Munson and Bavougian Tennis Complex, the Azusa Pacific Cougars are led by head coach Mark Bohren, in his 22nd year at the helm of the program. The nine-player team is led by seniors Toby Miclat and Jackie Resler, and includes a four-player freshmen class. By its record of 6-2, the Cougars most recently fell to Cal State Fullerton 7-0 on March 1, and will face Holy Names on March 7 prior to hosting the Falcons on March 8.
In-state rival Ohio State is off to a 5-3 record in the 2018 campaign, and most recently fell to Texas 4-0 on the road. Prior to hosting the Falcons at 5 p.m. on March 13, the Buckeyes will be competing against Nebraska on March 7, and Dayton at noon on March 13. The nine-player roster is led by seniors Anna Sanford and Olivia Sneed, and head coach Melissa Schaub, and has appeared in each of the last four NCAA Tournaments.
The Azusa Pacific and Ohio State matches mark the conclusion of a seven-match road stretch for the Falcons, before they return home to host UIC on March 16.
