
Paster Wins Long Jump As Falcons Compete At Ball State, Miami

Muncie, Ind. – Kyla Paster won the long jump and the Bowling Green State University track and field team produced numerous personal bests at the Ball State Challenge Friday. The Falcon throwers competed at the Miami Duals, winning two events and finishing second in another.

EARLY RESULTS SET THE TONE
- Kyla Paster kicked off the weekend Friday morning by jumping 18-feet-10.75 (5.76m) to win the meet.
- Her wind-reading of +2.6 is legal for postseason qualifications but was too high to count as a personal best.
- The 400 relay team of Ryen Draper, Cortisha Short, Chasatea Brown and Mis'cha Sellers also had a strong result early in the day.
- The relay time of 46.80 seconds tied for 10th best in school history. The Falcons placed third in the meet.
OTHER PERSONAL BESTS
- Freshman Savannah Nevels ran a PR time of 12.16 seconds in the 100, while freshman Ryen Draper added a PR time of 12.27 seconds.
- Draper also had a PR in the 200 at 24.85 seconds and was the second-fastest Falcon behind Cortisha Short's 24.46 seconds.
- Nevels (24.94), Mis'cha Sellers (25.11) and Brianna Tidmore (26.46) also posted career-bests in the 200.
- Running the 400 for the first time in her career, sophomore Chasatea Brown was the top finisher among four Falcons in 56.87 seconds. She finished second overall.
- Rachel Stute inched forward her career best in the 800 with a time of 2:21.64.
- In the high jump, senior BeJai Fray had a personal best mark of 5-3.25 (1.61m).
UP NEXT
- BGSU will compete in two meets next weekend.
- Rachel Walny will run at the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrence, Calif.
- The remainder of the team will run at the Jesse Owens Classic Friday and Saturday.
THROWS AT MIAMI
- BGSU's throws group competed at the Miami Duals Friday, competing in the hammer throw, javelin, discus and shot put.
- Aliyah Gustafson won the discus and shot put and placed second in the hammer throw with a personal best distance of 191-feet. That mark moves her to fourth in school history in the hammer.
- Andrea Weirauch set a PR in the javelin and placed third overall at 109-11.
- Elizabeth Iversen was second in the discus (behind only Gustafson) with a personal best distance of 165-7 (50.46m).
