August 22, 2018 | Volleyball
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The 2018 Mid-American Conference Volleyball Preseason Poll was released on Wednesday (Aug. 22) morning. Bowling Green was picked to finish second in the East Division, as voted on by the conference's 12 head coaches. The Falcons received three votes to win the regular season, and one vote to win the 2018 MAC Tournament.
Additionally, senior libero Kallie Seimet and sophomore middle blocker Katie Kidwell were selected to the seven-member Preseason East All-MAC Team. Seimet earned First Team All-MAC honors last season after leading the country in digs per set (6.81), while Kidwell was placed on the MAC's All-Freshman Team in 2017.
Ohio was picked to win the East Division, regular-season title, and tournament title. Ball State was picked to win the MAC West. Only Ohio and BGSU received votes to win the regular-season, as OU's eight votes bested BGSU's three votes. Ohio's five votes to win the tournament crown topped the list.
Bowling Green lost just one letterwinner from a team that went 13-3 in the MAC last year to earn a share of the regular-season title. The Falcons swept Purdue Fort Wayne last Saturday in exhibition play. BGSU opens the 2018 season this Friday (Aug. 24) with matches against Tulsa (12 p.m.) and Purdue (7:30 p.m.) in West Lafayette, Indiana.
