Multiple Falcons Go Low To Lead BGSU To Fifth-Place Finish At Redbird Invitational

NORMAL, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf program climbed the leaderboard over the final round at the Redbird Invitational. After starting the day in seventh place, the Falcons posted a team score of 304 climbing two spots to finish the tournament in fifth place of 14 schools.
Bowling Green carded a 304 in rounds one and three, with a round-two 316, which adds up to a total team score of 924 in the first tournament of 2018-19. Northern Illinois posted an 882 to win the event. BGSU finished ahead of MAC foes Ohio (926) and Akron (943).
Individually, Erin Fahey, Sammi Blackburn and Jessica Madry had huge days to close out the tournament. Fahey recorded a one-under 71 in round three to finish the tournament tied for ninth, marking the 13th top-10 finish of her illustrious Falcon career. The senior nearly carded a rare bogey-free round, finishing the day with just a single bogey.
Madry registered a 73 in the final round to finish the event tied for 19th. Both Fahey and Madry missed tying career lows on the day by just one stroke. Sammi Blackburn competed as an individual, but turned in a fantastic final-round 72, which is a career low for the sophomore. Blackburn led the Orange and Brown on the day with four birdies.
BGSU's starting lineup was capped by efforts from Julia Durkin (80), Nichole Cox (86) and Katie Whitfield (80).
