Falcons Dive Into 2018-19 Season In Dual Meet Versus Saint Francis University
September 27, 2018 | Women's Swimming & Diving
The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team will be in Loretto, Pa. on Friday, Sept. 28 to open their 2018-19 season in a dual meet against hosts Saint Francis University. It will be Rickey Perkins' first meet as the Falcons' swimming and diving head coach. Perkins was brought onto the Falcons' coaching staff in the summer after serving 16 years as the swimming and diving head coach at the University of Evansville. In his tenure at Evansville, Perkins was a five-time Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year (2005-06, 2008-09, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2014-15).
The Falcons began the 2017-18 season with a dual meet against the Saint Francis Red Flash. Bowling Green blew out the competition with a 214.5-77.5 victory, claiming all but the 50 yard freestyle and the 50 yard back stroke. The season came to a close after the MAC Championship, in which the Falcons placed fifth, and with an overall record of 4-4, and 1-3 in the Mid-American Conference.
Returning to compete for the Falcons will be Talisa Lemke, Franziska Wohlert, Nikki Borgerding, Sarah Hennings, Jordan Andrusak, Emily Verbrugge, Maddy Andrews, and Elodie Schreiber who are all listed in the in the all-time BGSU swimming and diving records.
COACH PERKINS QUOTE
For the last four weeks the girls have been working and training very hard. I am very excited to see what they can do this weekend. It will be nice to compete against another team and hopefully this weekend will show that the work they have been putting in is paying off.
