Aliyah Gustafson Named MAC Field Athlete Of The Week For Third Time This Year
January 29, 2019 | Women's Track and Field
Bowling Green, Ohio – After breaking her own school record in the shot put, redshirt senior Aliyah Gustafson has been named the Mid-American Conference's Field Athlete of the Week. It is the third time this year that Gustafson has been bestowed with the honor.
Gustafson virtually assured herself of a return trip to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships by throwing the shot put 57-feet-5 (17.50m) at the Can-Am International, hosted by Eastern Michigan. She ranks No. 3 in the country in the event and leads the MAC by more than six feet.
Gustafson also competed in the weight throw at the meet and tossed a season-best 64-9.75 (19.75m). She ranks second in the conference in weight throw and is among the top 35 in the country.
BGSU Track & Field will be back in action Friday and Saturday at the Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame.
