
EMU Trips Up Falcons

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team took a slim lead into the final rotation of Thursday night's home meet against Eastern Michigan. But the Eagles posted a 49.075 on balance beam and defeated the Falcons 194.150-193.975.

The meet, which was originally scheduled to take place at Eastern Michigan, was moved to Bowling Green Thursday afternoon after cold temperatures made it impossible to hold the meet in the Convocation Center.

"Vault was a really solid start. I'm proud to see the team continue to build on that. Bars was a huge improvement. We need to clean up and get some landings there, but what a great turnaround there. We let ourselves down on our beam, because we are an awesome beam team. We just haven't put it all out there. There's a lot to build on, we just haven't really hit our stride yet."

- Lauren DeMeno led Bowling Green with a 9.800 as the Falcons took a slim lead after the opening rotation.
- DeMeno earned her second career event title, tying for first on beam.
- Tess Muir scored a career-best 9.775 and Katie Morsefield posted an identical season-best score.
- Taylor Worthington also recorded a 9.775 and Elena Lawson added 9.750.
- Morsefield finished with a top three event finish for the first time in her career.
BARS
- The Falcons scored a season-best 48.250 on bars.
- Leslie Delgado tied her career-high with a 9.850, the second time this year that she has earned that score.
- Delgado tied for first overall, the first time in her career she recorded an event title.
- Elena Lawson had a career-best score of 9.625 and Lexi Augustine tied her season-best at 9.625.
- Katie Goldstrom established a career-high with a 9.450 score.
BEAM
- After falling behind through two rotations, the Falcons scored 48.100 and took a lead into the floor exercise.
- Jovannah East scored 9.850 and Taylor Worthington added a 9.800.
- East recorded a score of at least 9.825 on beam for the third consecutive meet.
- Worthington's 9.800 was the second time this year she has posted at least a 9.800.
FLOOR
- Lexi Augustine scored 9.875 to win the floor exercise, posting a career-high.
- Elena Lawson tied her career high with a 9.725.
- Katie Morsefield scored a 9.775.
- Augustine won her second career event title with the 9.875 score.
