Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons face Western Michigan University on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 5), with tipoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Stroh Center.

NEED-TO-KNOW INFORMATION
(We provide these three fascinating facts only on a need-to-know basis; If you don't know, now you know)
>> BGSU begins the 2018-19 conference schedule as the winningest team in MAC history, both in terms of victories and winning percentage, and the Falcons lead the all-time series with all 11 conference foes.
>> The BGSU-Western Michigan series is by far the closest of any of the Falcons' series with fellow MAC institutions, with the Falcons holding a narrow 35-32 lead.
>> Freshman Morgan McMillen and junior Andrea Cecil each are ranked in the top 12 in the country in a three-point field goal-related category. And, as a team, the Falcons rank sixth in the nation in three-pointers made per game.
FALCONS VS. THE MAC
The Falcons own the best record in MAC history. Entering the WMU game, BGSU has an all-time record of 405-210 (.659) in MAC regular-season games, for the most wins and highest winning percentage of all league institutions.
And, BG leads the series with all 11 MAC foes, making the Falcons the only team in the league with a winning series record against every other school. BG also has the most overall victories and highest overall winning pct. of any league institution.
COACH FRALICK: MIC'D UP
A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER
The Falcons had a perfect 4-0 record in the month of December, and BGSU outscored the opponents by an average of 17.3 points per game.
Junior Andrea Cecil averaged 19.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest in December, shooting 52.9% from the field in the four wins. Freshman Morgan McMillen and senior Sydney Lambert averaged 15.5 and 13.3 points, respectively, and Lambert also had 4.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.
McMillen (17), Cecil (13) and Lambert (10) each made at least 10 three-point field goals in the month of December, while sophomore Madisen Parker hit nine long-range shots. BG drained 13.3 three-pointers per game in the four wins.
LAMBERT JOINS 1,000-POINT CLUB
Senior Sydney Lambert scored a game-high 18 points in the Falcons' win over Davis & Elkins on Sunday (Dec. 30). Her final two points of the game came on a foul-line jumper with 8:06 remaining in the fourth quarter, and put her over the 1,000-point mark for her career.
Lambert is the 28th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. She scored her 1,000th career point in her 100th career game at BG.
FALCONS GET DEFENSIVE
BGSU held Davis & Elkins to just 28 points in the Falcons' win on Sunday (Dec. 30) at the Stroh Center. That is the third-lowest opponent point total in school history, and the fewest points the Falcons have allowed in over four decades.
To be slightly more precise, it's the lowest point total by a Falcon foe in nearly 44 years. BG has kept the opponent under 30 points four times in program history, and each of the other three instances came in the 1973-74 and '74-75 seasons.
BGSU RECORD BOOK – FEWEST POINTS ALLOWED, GAME
25Â Ohio Northern, 2/11/75Â Â Â W 77-25
26Â Wayne State, 1973-74Â Â Â W 77-26
28Â Davis & Elkins, 12/30/18Â W 63-28
29Â Ohio Northern, 1973-74Â Â Â W 52-29
ANDREA THREE-CIL
Junior Andrea Cecil has been on fire from beyond the arc this season to date. Cecil has hit 49.1 percent of her three-point attempts, ranking her 12th in the entire nation in three-point field-goal percentage.
Through 11 games this season, Cecil has made 27 three-pointers, topping her total (24) for all of last year.
FROM WAAAAAAAY DOWNTOWN .... BANG!
Andrea Cecil is not the only Falcon currently ranked among the nation's top performers in a three-point shooting-related category. Morgan McMillen is seventh in the country – and second among all freshmen – in three-pointers made per game.
McMillen has hit 42 triples through her first 11 collegiate contests, an average of 3.82 long-distance makes per game. She has made at least three triples in nine of the 11 games, including four contests with five or more successful treys.
LAMBERT'S LEAVING A LEGACY...
One anagram for "Sydney Lambert" is "merely stand by", but that phrase could not be less accurate when describing the senior guard. Lambert has been an important part of the Falcons' lineup since the day she arrived on campus, and is adding her name to numerous BGSU career charts. For instance...
LAMBERT'S LEGACY II: START ME UP
Lambert has started every game since coming to BG, and has made 100 career starts entering the Western Michigan game. If she is in the lineup on Saturday, she would move into a tie for 10th place on the school's career list for games started.
BG has at least 19 games left on the 2018-19 schedule, meaning Lambert has a realistic chance to finish her career as high as fifth in school history in games started. BGSU Hall-of-Famers Kate Achter (124 from 2004-08) and Jackie Motycka (115 from 1985-89) rank fourth and fifth, respectively, on the BG list for career starts.
LAMBERT'S LEGACY III: THOUSAND POINTS OF LIGHT
Lambert enters the WMU game with a career total of 1,001 points. She has averaged at least 9.4 points per game in every season at BG, and is averaging 11.1 ppg this season and 10.0 ppg in her career.Â
With a game-high 18 points in the win over D&E, Lambert moved past Lindsay Austin (1,000 points from 2000-04) into 27th place on the BGSU career scoring list. Her next targets on that list are Cary McGehee (1980-84) and Miriam Justinger (2012-16), each of whom scored 1,027 points in a BG uniform.
LAMBERT'S LEGACY IV: SYD-THREE LAMBERT
Lambert's first successful three-point field goal in the Falcons' win at Canisius (Dec. 8) was the 200th of her BGSU career. She became just the fourth Falcon to make 200 career three-pointers, and now has 209 long-range makes. Lambert is averaging just over two treys per game in her career, and if she keeps up that pace, she will move past both Liz Honegger (216 three-pointers from 2003-07) and Tracy Pontius (235 from 2007-11) to finish her career in second place on the BGSU list.
THREE-MARKABLE
Entering the month of January, the Falcons are ranked sixth in the entire nation in three-point field goals made per game. BGSU has hit 119 triples in 11 games, for an average of 10.8 per game.
Additionally, the Falcons currently rank 20th in the nation in total three-pointers made and 28th in the land in three-point field goal percentage.
WHEN HEMPFLING REBOUNDS, THE FALCONS WIN
Freshman Kadie Hempfling leads the Falcons in rebounding, with 9.2 boards per game. Hempfling has pulled down 10 or more rebounds in six of her first 11 games as a Falcon.
In fact, when Hempfling has 10 or more rebounds in a game, the Falcons are a perfect 6-0. The Ottawa, Ohio, native is averaging 11.6 rpg in BG's seven wins.
EYASSES (IT'S THE PLURAL OF EYAS) (LOOK IT UP)
A total of seven players have seen action in all 11 games this season to date. That group includes one senior, one junior, two sophomores (including one redshirt soph) and three freshmen.
Three additional Falcons have seen action in at least seven games. That trio consists of one junior, one soph and the remaining freshman.
FIVE HOME GAMES, SIX THREE-POINT RECORDS
Long-standing long-distance records have been falling in BGSU home games like the temperature in a Perry Stadium East office with a non-working heater. No fewer than six three-point records have been tied or broken in this season's first five games at the Stroh Center.
Freshman Morgan McMillen, in her first-ever home game as a Falcon, tied the school single-game record by making eight three-point field goals in the win over Marshall. That same night, the Thundering Herd attempted 38 long-distance shots to set a new Stroh Center record (since broken – more on that in a minute).
BGSU tied the school single-game record for three-point field goals made, hitting 16 long-range shots vs. the Thundering Herd.
Then, against Detroit Mercy, McMillen and her teammates shattered the school records for three-point field goals attempted. McMillen took 18 shots from outside the arc, and the Falcons fired 40 triple tries as a team.
The latter record lasted for under two weeks. On Sunday, BG took 43 three-point shots, setting a new school record and falling just two shots shy of the MAC record.
THE FALCONS: A QUICK OVERVIEW
BGSU enters the WMU game with a record of 7-4, and the Falcons have won the last four games. BGSU picked up a 74-53 win at Canisius (Dec. 8), then topped Detroit Mercy, 79-73, at home (Dec. 17) and Valparaiso, 79-72, on the road (Dec. 21). Most recently, the Brown and Orange topped Davis & Elkins by a 63-28 score.
BG fell at Michigan State in the season opener, but the Falcons then won three-straight games, topping Marshall, Robert Morris and Loyola Chicago, 88-74, at the Stroh Center. The Falcons dropped the next three games before putting together the current three-game win streak.
BG's four losses have come against teams (MSU, Coastal Carolina, Mercer and Xavier) who are a combined 36-14. The Spartans (#15/17) are ranked in both polls.
The Falcons are 5-0 at home, 2-3 on the road and 0-1 in neutral-site contests.
Head coach Robyn Fralick is in her first season on the BGSU bench. Her staff includes associate head coach Kim Cameron, assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Karmen Graham, assistant coach Joel Whymer, director of operations Monique Rosati and video coordinator Amanda Cutcher.
Eleven games into the schedule, four players are scoring in double digits. Freshman Morgan McMillen has 17.1 points per game, and has scored in double digits in 10 of her first 11 career contests. McMillen tied the school single-game record with eight triples vs. Marshall (in her second collegiate game), and she is shooting 40.0% from the arc, having gone 42-for-105 from long range.
Junior Andrea Cecil has 15.5 ppg to date, and has scored 60 points in the last three games, including a career-high 30 vs. UDM. Cecil is also second on the Falcons in rebounding, with 5.0 boards per game. She has had 19 or more points six times in 11 games this season, and is shooting 49.1% from three-point land, good for 12th in the entire nation.
Sophomore Angela Perry has 12.9 points per game and is shooting 60.3% from the floor. Perry, who has seen action in eight games, has already topped her point total for all of last season.
Senior Sydney Lambert is averaging 11.1 ppg and leads the team with 4.5 assists. She has hit 22 treys, good for third on the team, and also has 4.1 boards per outing.
Freshman Kadie Hempfling and sophomore Madisen Parker have 6.2 and 5.7 ppg, respectively. Hempfling has a BG-best 9.2 rebounds per game, and she is also averaging 4.5 assists per game to rank second on the Falcons in that category (49 total assists to Lambert's 50). She has had six double-digit rebounding totals in her first 11 games. Parker has gone 16-of-41 (39.0%) from three-point range this year, including a perfect 3-for-3 in the win at Valparaiso.
BGSU returned a total of 10 letterwinners, including three starters, from last year's team that finished with an 11-19 overall record and a 3-15 mark in MAC play.
A QUICK LOOK AT WMU
Western Michigan is 6-5 on the season, and the Broncos ended the pre-MAC slate with a 75-51 win over Saginaw Valley State. Western is 3-3 at home, 2-1 on the road and 1-1 at neutral sites. Deja Wimby leads the club with 12.6 points per game, and she also has a team-high 4.6 assists per outing. Head coach Shane Clipfell welcomed back 11 letterwinners, including three starters, from last year's team that finished 18-15 overall and 9-9 in MAC play.
THE SERIES
The Falcons lead WMU, 35-32, in the all-time series between the teams, but Western has won the last nine meetings, including three last season. The Broncos captured a 67-58 verdict in Kalamazoo (Dec. 30, 2017), an 81-67 decision just over a month later at the Stroh Center (Feb. 7, 2018), and an 85-71 outcome at University Arena in the first round of the MAC Tournament (March 5, 2018). BG's last victory over WMU came on Feb. 5, 2014 (72-50 at the Stroh). The Falcons are 18-13 at home, 14-18 on the road and 3-1 at neutral sites vs. the Broncos over the years.
DOWN THE ROAD
Following the WMU game, the Falcons will begin the road portion of the MAC slate with a Wednesday morning (Jan. 9) contest vs. Ball State. That game is set for an 11:00 a.m. start in Muncie.
