BGSU Gymnastics Signs Three To National Letters Of Intent
November 18, 2019 | Gymnastics
Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University gymnastics coach Kerrie Turner has announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Sydney Bennett (Denver, N.C. / East Lincoln HS / Everest Gymnastics), Lauren Bannister (Prospect, Ky. / North Oldham HS / Champion Gymnastics), and Kylie Yacamelli (Trafford, Pa. / Penn Trafford HS / Xquisite Gymnastics) will all begin their collegiate careers at BGSU for the 2020-21 season.
Bennett is the daughter of Scott and Kandy Bennett of Denver, N.C. She attends East Lincoln High School and is a member of Everest Gymnastics.
"In addition to being an excellent student, Sydney is a consistent gymnast, showing potential on every event," Turner said. "She has very clean gymnastics and a graceful look to her skills."
Bannister is the daughter of Tobin and Janet Bannister of Prospect, Ky. She attends North Oldham High School and is a member of Champion Gymnastics.
"Lauren is a dynamic gymnast, showing great power in her skills," Turner said. "I expect she will make an impact quickly with her aggressive gymnastics and her big personality."
Yacamelli is the daughter of Kerry and Kristine Yacamelli of Trafford, Pa. She attends Penn Trafford High School and competes for Xquisite Gymnastics.
"Kylie joins a long line of club teammates who now attend BGSU," Turner said. "I believe she will bring her unique style of gymnastics to our program as well as a bright bubbly personality to the team."
BGSU gymnastics is set to open the 2020 season on Jan. 11 when the Falcons host Eastern Michigan to kick off Mid-American Conference competition. The Mid-American Conference Championships are scheduled for March 21 at Western Michigan. Turner and the Falcons return a veteran squad that includes senior Jovannah East, a two-time MAC champion and NCAA qualifier.
