BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team opened its 2019-20 season on Tuesday (Nov. 5) night with a 94-73 victory over Tiffin University. The contest was played inside the Stroh Center.
The Falcons led for 39:27 of the game's 40 minutes. Bowling Green scored the first eight points of the contest, and cruised to victory. BGSU led by as many as 26 points. The Falcons have now won 14-straight season openers at home.
On the night, 11 different Falcons scored, led by redshirt-junior guard Justin Turner's 20-point night. Turner has now scored 20-plus points in 27 career games. Junior forward Daeqwon Plowden recorded the second double-double of his career, as he finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Bowling Green limited the Dragons to 36.0 percent (27-of-75) shooting, while the Falcons out-rebounded Tiffin on the night by a 61-33 margin. BGSU drilled seven three-pointers, and shot 48.6 percent (35-of-72) from the floor.

• Frye moved past Richaun Holmes (2012-15 | 1,089) on the Bowling Green all-time scoring list on the evening. Frye now ranks 38th all-time, having scored 1,098 points in his career over 98 games.
• Junior forward Trey Diggs made his debut in the Orange and Brown. Diggs went 2-for-3 from downtown, and posted a +13 on-court rating in 18 minutes.
• Sophomore center Tayler Mattos had a career night. Mattos set career highs in the following: points (9), rebounds (15), blocks (3), steals (1), field foals (4), and minutes (17). Mattos recorded a game-high 15 rebounds in just 17 minutes of action. Mattos played in his 19th game as a Falcon, while making his first-career start.
• Senior guard Michael Laster tied his career high with seven assists. Laster notched seven assists in a win at Western Michigan last season on Feb. 5, 2019. The senior went 3-for-6 from the floor in the 2019-20 season opener, scoring eight points. Laster also had three rebounds, and only committed one turnover.
• Redshirt-sophomore forward Matiss Kulackovskis contributed with six points and four rebounds in 12 minutes on the floor. Kulackovskis posted a +5 on-court rating.
• Senior guard Ethan Good played three minutes, and was a perfect 1-for-1 from the floor. Good converted on a tough layup late in the game, marking the third-career made field goal in his career.
• Senior forward Marlon Sierra tied a career high with eight rebounds. Sierra scored two points, as well. Sierra pulled down eight rebounds for just the second time in his career, matching his career high, which was set on Dec. 8, 2018 in a home win over Green Bay.
• Freshmen Davin Zeigler, Chandler Turner and Isaac Elsasser each made their Bowling Green debuts. Zeigler started, and finished with two points and one rebound. Turner had four points and three rebounds, while Elsasser logged three minutes.
