
Central Michigan Hands BGSU Road Defeat

Mt. Pleasant, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team could not overcome a slow start, losing to Central Michigan in a Mid-American Conference meet, 195.775-193.050, Friday night. Despite the team's second-best balance beam score of the year, the team struggled on bars in the opening rotation and were never able to get back in the meet.

STARTING ON BARS
- Bowling Green scored just 46.450 points on balance beam in the opening rotation, while Central Michigan scored 48.725 points on beam in the second rotation. That scoring difference made up the vast majority of the final score difference.
- BGSU topped out with Jovannah East's 9.575 on bars. It was the only event in which East did not score at least a 9.800.
HITTING THE VAULT
- The Falcons rebounded with a solid team score of 48.775 on vault, earning a pair of 9.800 scores.
- Jovannah East and Lauren DeMeno tied for third overall with a pair of 9.800 scores. For East, it was her fourth consecutive meet with a 9.800 or better on vault.
- Taylor Worthington added a 9.750 and has scored at least a 9.700 in all eight meets this year on vault.
MOVING TO THE FLOOR
- Jovannah East tied for first overall on the floor by scoring a 9.875. It marks her third straight score of at least 9.875 on floor.
- Paige Bachner tied her career high on floor with a 9.575.
CLOSING WITH BEAM
- BGSU scored 49.050 on beam, the team's second-highest score of the year on the event.
- Taylor Worthington won the beam by tying her career high with a 9.900.
- Jovannah East posted a 9.875 to take second place. It is her seventh consecutive score of 9.800 or higher on beam.
- Jasmine Jones, competing on beam for the first time in her career, posted an impressive 9.825.
THE ALL-AROUND
- Jovannah East finished with a 39.100 all-around score, good for her second-best total of the year.
- East tied for first on the floor, finished second on beam, and tied for third on vault.
UP NEXT
- The team will head to the west coast for its next meet, competing in a four-way meet at Oregon State. Along with the host Beavers, the Falcons will meet Alaska Anchorage and San Jose State. That meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 pm ET.
- Bowling Green will not return home until Senior Night March 15 as the Falcons host Western Michigan at 6:30 pm.
