The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team led Northern Illinois for much of the first half on Wednesday night (Feb. 6), but the host Huskies took the lead just before the intermission, then blew the game wide open in the third quarter. NIU went on to post an 88-47 win in Mid-American Conference action at the Convocation Center.

Freshman Morgan McMillen led the Falcons with 17 points, including five three-pointers. Junior Andrea Cecil added nine points, while senior Maddie Cole and sophomore Angela Perry had seven apiece. Cole led the Falcons with nine rebounds.
Myia Starks had a game-high 23 points to pace four Huskies in double digits.
The Falcons went on a 13-0 run to take a 16-5 first-quarter lead, with McMillen knocking down back-to-back triples to cap that run. Starks hit a pair of jumpers, but McMillen made her fourth long-distance shot in as many attempts for a 21-9 lead.
Northern scored the final four points of the quarter to cut BG's lead to eight, 24-16, after 10 minutes.
Freshman Molly Dever, making her first collegiate start, pounded the ball inside to Cecil, then Perry, for buckets that gave BG a 28-18 lead. The Huskies went on an 8-0 run, however, with Errin Hodges connecting from the arc to cut BG's lead to two.
Freshman Kadie Hempfling, one of three first-year Falcons in the starting lineup on Wednesday night, threaded the needle with a nifty pass that resulted in a layup for sophomore Terri Battle, but the hosts would score the last eight points of the half to take a 34-30 lead into the locker room.
The third quarter saw Dever take a Cecil pass and drill a three-pointer on the opening possession, cutting the NIU lead to a single point. Starks hit a foul-line jumper, but Cole's putback narrowed the gap to one point, 36-35, once again. From there, however, it was all Huskies.
NIU scored the next four points, and after McMillen took a Hempfling feed and drained her fifth triple of the night, the Huskies proceeded to go on an 18-0 run. By the time Cecil pulled up and knocked down a foul-line jumper, the Northern lead was 58-40. late in the third quarter.
Then, NIU scored on the first five possessions of the fourth quarter to seal the deal.
Mikayla Voigt had 16 points and Riley Blackwell 14 for the Huskies, while Abby Woollacott added 11.
For the Falcons, Hempfling pulled down eight rebounds and had a team-high six assists.
The Brown and Orange played without senior Sydney Lambert. The point guard, who had started every game of her BGSU career prior to Wednesday night, did not make the trip to DeKalb due to injury.
