AKRON, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team was defeated by the University of Akron on Tuesday (March 5) night by a score of 91-67. The game was played at UA's James A. Rhodes Arena. Bowling Green drops to 20-10 (12-5 MAC) on the season with the loss, while Akron moves to 16-14 (8-9 MAC).

The worst three-point offense in the conference, Akron had an uncharacteristically incredible night from beyond the arc. The Zips went 14-for-31 (45.2 percent) from downtown. Bowling Green was held to 32.4 percent (24-of-74) shooting from the field.

With just 10:33 left in regulation, Bowling Green trailed by just four points at 60-56. Akron went on to close the contest on a 31-11 run. Akron was led by 31 points from Loren Cristian Jackson.

Redshirt-sophomore guard Justin Turner led the Falcons with 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting. Junior guard Michael Laster finished the ballgame in double figures, as well, as he posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Bowling Green will play in the upcoming MAC Tournament as the second or third seed. BGSU's quarterfinal game will take place at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on March 14.
