Falcons Ready For The RedHawks This Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team will host MAC opponent Miami on Saturday, April 13. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at will be played at Keefe Courts in Bowling Green. The match will serve as the Falcons sixth conference match of the season. Bowling Green will enter the contest with a 9-9 overall record, including a 2-3 standing thus far against the MAC.
Taking the Battle of I-75
In the Falcons' last match, they came away victorious in one of the closest matches this season. After all three doubles sets needed at least seven points to decide a winner, with the Rockets taking a 1-0 lead, the Orange and Brown made a comeback in the singles competitions. After capturing three quick singles points, the match came down to No. 6 singles with the winner taking the overall match. After falling behind 2-0 in the third set, Vanesa Pardo fought back, surviving multiple match points to claim the set, and match, for the Falcons who won 4-3 over rival Toledo.
Ready for the RedHawks
Miami will travel to Bowling Green holding an 8-10 overall record, but a 4-1 MAC standing that currently places them in first for the conference. The RedHawks most recently faced Dayton on April 6, beating the Flyers with a sweep of 7-0. Within the conference, Miami's last opponent was Toledo, who they beat 4-3 on April 5.
MAC Doubles Team of the Week
Polina Radeva and Ayumi Sasaki were named MAC Doubles Team of the Week following their match at No. 2 doubles against Toledo. The Falcon duo overcame a 5-4 deficit by scoring three straight points to clinch the match. This is the fourth time this season that BGSU has had a doubles team recognized for Doubles Team of the Week. Sasaki was named earlier in the year on Feb. 13 with partner Marta Bettinelli. In addition, Paula Comella and Marharita-Sophia Tavpash have been named twice, coming on Feb. 27 and March 27.

- Sitting with 71 singles wins, Comella could move up the list with a win on Saturday. If she can capture win 72 of her career, she will move up to a tie for No. 14 all-time in singles wins.
- In addition, if Comella can snag a win in both singles and doubles, she can move up the combined list as well. Currently at No. 9 with 147 wins, she is just two wins away from tying for No. 6 all-time.
- Tavpash has the opportunity to move up in doubles win. Now at 57, a doubles win would tie her No. 24 all-time.
