
Big Day For Throws As Falcons Flex In Virginia

Charlottesville, Va. and Oxford, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University track and field team had strong individual performances in the shot put, discus and hammer throw at the Virginia Challenge Saturday. The Falcons also competed at the RedHawk Invitational, hosted by Miami (Ohio).

TOP NOTCH THROWS
- Aliyah Gustafson was the top collegiate finisher in the shot put at the Virginia Challenge, throwing a season-best 56-feet-7.5 (17.26m). That distance has been bettered by just three student-athletes in the country heading into the weekend and is the fourth-best performance in program history.
- Zaresha Neal threw a personal best 171-4 (52.23m) in the discus at Virginia. That distance was a personal best by almost 14 feet and ranks fourth in program history. Only one thrower in the Mid-American Conference had tossed the discus further this year entering the weekend.
- Kaila Butler threw the hammer 204-6 (62.33m) to place fifth in a highly-competitive field in Virginia. The field featured four of the top 15 and seven of the top 35 hammer throwers in the country. All nine competitors in the event rank in the top 50 in the country.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Mis'cha Sellers set a new personal best time in the 400 at the RedHawk Invitational, winning the event in 58.29 seconds.
- Katerina Shuble was the top collegiate finisher in the 800 at the RedHawk Invitational. She set a new personal best by more than two seconds with a time of 2:15.80.
- Katelyn King broke her personal best in the hammer throw by more than four feet at Miami, throwing the apparatus 138-feet-5 (42.18m).
- BGSU's 1600 relay team posted a season-best time 3:52.79 to finish ninth at the Virginia Challenge.
UP NEXT
- Bowling Green will once again split its squad for a pair of meets over the following weekend.
- The Falcons will compete at Hillsdale's Gina Relays Thursday through Saturday.
- BGSU will also appear at Louisville's Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational Friday and Saturday.
