CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second-straight year, five student-athletes on the Bowling Green State University baseball team were named to the Mid-American Conference's Academic All-MAC team. The league office announced the news on Tuesday, June 18.
The Academic All-MAC honor is bestowed upon student-athletes that have excelled in both athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
BGSU's Academic All-MAC recipients are listed below.
Chase Antle | Redshirt-Junior | 3.43 GPA | Sport Management
Adam Furnas | Sophomore | 3.71 GPA | Pre-Exercise Science
Joe McGuinness | Senior | 3.77 GPA | Middle Childhood Education
David Stopp | Sophomore | 3.35 GPA | Aviation Studies
Jake Wilson | Junior | 3.33 GPA |Pre-Exercise Science
"I am extremely proud of these five young men," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "The time, effort, and commitment it takes to be a Division I student-athlete is intense. To be able to stand out, both on the field and in the classroom, is not easy. These five Falcons represent what it means to be a student-athlete at BGSU."
McGuinness has been named to the MAC's Academic All-MAC team for the third-consecutive season. Since freshmen and first-year players are not eligible, McGuinness picked up the recognition in every season that he was eligible. Antle, Furnas and Stopp are first-time honorees, while Wilson is an Academic All-MAC selection for the second-straight year.
