UP NEXT IN FALCON SOCCER
• The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team, coming off of a win in the home opener, will be back at Cochrane Stadium this week. Head coach Matt Fannon and the Falcons, the 2018 Mid-American Conference regular-season and tournament champions, will face the University of Dayton on Thursday evening (Sept. 5). The match will begin at 7:00 p.m., and admission is free.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will begin a four-match road swing with a short trip north this weekend. BG heads to Ann Arbor on Sunday (Sept. 8), meeting the University of Michigan in a 2:00 p.m. start at U-M Soccer Stadium.
GIVEAWAYS / PROMOTIONS / EVENTS
• As if free admission was not enough, there are always a veritable plethora of additional reasons to come watch the Falcons in action. Thursday's Dayton match will be Pride Night at Cochrane Stadium, with fans receiving BG Pride buttons.
FIVE FASCINATING FALCON FACTS
• BGSU's 2-0 win over Valparaiso on Friday night (Aug. 30) extended the Falcons' home unbeaten streak to 12 matches, a new school record. BG is 10-0-2 at Cochrane Stadium during that stretch.
• The Falcons held Valparaiso without a shot on goal in Friday's win. It marked just the fourth time in program history – but the third time in as many seasons – that BG did not allow a single shot on goal in a match.
• Senior Maureen Kennedy has moved into the top 10 in career points at BGSU, and she is now tied for 12th in school history in career goals.
• Kennedy and fellow senior Chelsee Washington each are ranked, or are closing in on, the BGSU career lists for goals, assists, points and match-winning goals.
• Each of this week's two matches will see the Falcons face a former BG assistant coach (Dayton's Eric Golz and Michigan's Tiffany Hansen).
MATT FANNON INTERVIEW (Sept. 4, 2019)

B!G LIFE. B!G STAGE. B!G MATCHES FOR BG
• Beginning Friday, BGSU soccer teams will play a combined total of five matches vs. Big Ten Conference schools in an eight-day span. The BG women face Michigan on Sunday, then meet Michigan State in East Lansing next Thursday (Sept. 12).
• The men's soccer Falcons play three-straight matches vs. Big Ten foes, meeting Wisconsin (Friday) and Northwestern (Sunday) this weekend in Evanston, before opening the home schedule vs. Ohio State (Sept. 13).
KENNEDY CONNECTS
• Senior Maureen Kennedy scored the Falcons' first goal in Friday's Valparaiso match. It marked the second-straight season that she scored what proved to be the match-winning goal in the Falcons' home opener. Kennedy scored the first goal of the Oakland match last season in BG's 3-0 win over the Grizzlies.
KENNEDY CONNECTS, TOO
• Freshman Kennedy White scored BG's second goal in the win over Valpo, heading home a corner kick off the boot of sophomore Alexis Miller midway through the second half. White has scored a goal in each of the last two matches, after finding the back of the net at Xavier.Â
• With two goals and four points, White is tied with Kennedy for the team lead in both categories.
CLAMPING DOWN ON THE CRUSADERS
• The BGSU defense held Valparaiso without a shot on goal in Friday's win at Cochrane. It marked just the fourth time in program history, but the third time in as many seasons, that the Falcons did not allow a single shot on goal. Not surprisingly, BG picked up shutout wins in all four matches, with each of the four taking place at Cochrane Stadium.

FAMILIAR FOES FACE FALCONS
• BGSU will meet a pair of former assistant coaches this week. Eric Golz, in his third season as Dayton's head coach, was an assistant coach at BGSU in 2004 and '05. The Falcons won the MAC Tournament title in his first season, and captured both the league regular-season and tourney crowns in his second.
• Tiffany Hansen is in her fifth season as an assistant coach at Michigan. Hansen both played and coached at BGSU, spending the 2006 and '07 seasons as a goalkeeper for the Falcons (and helping BG to a school-record 10 clean sheets in '06) before serving as the Falcons' goalkeeper coach from 2008-11.
• Hansen and Golz coached together at Dayton, as both were assistants on head coach Mike Tucker's staff in the 2011 season.
A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE FALCONS
• The Falcons are 1-1-1 on the young season. BGSU recorded a 3-3, double-overtime draw at Kentucky and a 2-1 loss at Xavier, both on the road, before downing Valparaiso by a 2-0 count in the home opener.
• Head coach Matt Fannon and his staff welcomed back 17 letterwinners from last year's MAC Championship team. BGSU's 2018 MAC regular-season title was the second in program history, and the Falcons went on to capture the MAC Tournament title for the third time ever.Â
• Through three matches, senior Maureen Kennedy and freshman Kennedy White are tied for the team scoring lead with two goals and four points each. Redshirt junior Nikki Cox has three points on a goal and an assist, while her younger sister, freshman Katie Cox, has two points.
• Senior Kathleen Duwve has played all 290 minutes in goal this season, and has six saves, one shutout and a goals-against average of 1.55.
• Kennedy leads the BG non-goalkeepers with 283 minutes played, while fellow senior Chelsee Washington has played 250 minutes and juniors Nikhita Jacob and Sophia Barnes 209 and 207, respectively.
• A total of 16 different players have started at least one match. Barnes, Nikki Cox, Duwve, Jacob, Kennedy and Washington each have started all three matches.Â
THE OPPONENTS
• Dayton is 1-2-1 on the young season, after a 1-0 loss to DePaul on Sunday. The Flyers defeated Miami, lost to Illinois and tied Xavier prior to the DePaul match. Jordan Pauley and Alexis Goins each have two goals and four points, while Carly Becker has played every minute in goal and has a GAA of 1.18. The Flyers of head coach Eric Golz were picked to finish sixth in the 14-team Atlantic 10 Conference in 2019, after going 8-9-2 overall in 2018.
• Michigan is 3-1-0 heading into a Friday home match vs. Notre Dame. The Wolverines defeated Marshall, Utah Valley and FGCU – all at home – before dropping a double-OT decision at Marquette on Sunday. Meredith Haakenson has team-high totals of three goals and seven points, ,while Sarah Stratigakis has six points on the year. Hillary Beall has played every second in goal and has seven saves and a GAA of just 0.47 for head coach Jennifer Klein's club. U-M was picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten Conference in 2019.
THE SERIES
• BGSU trails Dayton, 2-0-0, in the all-time series, but the schools have not met in over two decades. UD picked up a 5-0 home win in September of 1997, in BGSU's third-ever match. Then, just over a year later, the Flyers captured a 3-2 overtime match at Cochrane.
• BGSU and Michigan have met just once, with the host Wolverines downing the Falcons, 2-0, in August of 2014.
DOWN THE ROAD...
• Following the Michigan match, the Falcons will continue a four-match road swing by taking on Michigan State in East Lansing on Thursday, Sept. 12. First touch is set for 7:00 p.m.
• Then, the Brown and Orange will end the non-conference portion of the schedule with road games against DePaul and West Virginia.
