SETTING THE SCENE – FALCONS, ROCKETS RENEW 'BATTLE OF I-75'
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team puts a four-game winning streak on the line on Saturday (Jan. 30), in a battle of arch-rivals at the Stroh Center. Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons will meet the University of Toledo in the latest edition of the 'Battle of I-75,' with tipoff at 12:00 p.m.
• BGSU had not won four consecutive Mid-American Conference games since reeling off 13-straight wins to end the regular season in 2013-14. This season, however, the Falcons have recorded a pair of four-game winning streaks in league play. BG has not had a five-game winning streak of any kind since that '13-14 campaign.
• The Falcons pulled away in the fourth quarter Wednesday night (Jan. 27), en route to a 77-53 win over Western Michigan. Sophomore Elissa Brett led BG and tied her career high with 17 points, and Brett (three) and freshman Nyla Hampton (four) each set a new career standard for three-pointers made. BGSU, now 12-3 overall, has surpassed the win total for all of last season. And, the Falcons have nearly tripled last year's MAC win total, with a 8-2 league ledger heading into the Toledo tilt.

STROH-MENDOUS!
• The Falcons lit up the Stroh scoreboard for 77 points in Wednesday's win over Western Michigan, the highest total in a home game and the third-highest total overall (89 points at Ball State, 87 at Miami) this season.
• Prior to Wednesday night's game, the Falcons' top-six scoring outputs of the season had all come on the road. BGSU scored between 64 and 71 points in each of the first six games at the Stroh Center.
• Meanwhile, in eight road games, the Falcons have scored at least 73 points six times, and, as mentioned, 87 or more points on two occasions.
2020-21 SITE BREAKDOWN
(BGSU scoring averages at home & on the road this season)
The Falcons... Record PPG Opp. PPG Scoring Margin
At Home 6-1 70.0 62.9 +7.1
On the Road 6-2 75.5 60.4 +15.1
STEP 1: TURN THEM OVER. STEP 2: MAKE THEM PAY.
• The Falcons have been successful at not only limiting their own turnovers, but also in creating opponent turnovers, this season to date. BG has had an advantage in points off turnovers in 14 of this season's first 15 games.
• Heading into the Toledo game, the Falcons have scored a total of 317 points off turnovers (21.1 per game), compared to 168 (11.2 per game) for the opponents.
STEALING SOME WINS
• For the Falcons, defense has led to offense in 2020-21. BGSU has recorded a total of 171 steals through 15 games this season, an average of 11.40 steals per game. That is more than double the average posted by last year's team (5.32 spg).
• After 15 games in 2020-21, BG has surpassed the program's total for the entire 2019-20 season (165 steals in 31 games).
• No player had more than 35 steals during all of last year, but freshman Lexi Fleming now has 44 steals, with classmates Kenzie Lewis and Nyla Hampton at 36 and 29, respectively (and Hampton's played just 10 games).
• Currently, the Falcons rank third (number three) in the nation in total steals and 15th in steals per game, and BG leads the MAC in both categories.
THICK AS THIEVES
• BGSU had 12 steals in the win over WMU on Wednesday. Through 15 games this season, the Falcons have recorded double-digit steal totals no fewer than 10 times, doubling the total (five) for all of last year.
• BG has had as many as 15 steals twice this season, in wins at Northern Kentucky and Toledo. The latter contest marked the first time BG had recorded 15 steals in a MAC game in eight years (since the Falcons had 16 at Western Michigan on Feb. 10, 2013). And, the Falcons have had 14 steals in two other MAC games this season.
• BGSU has had more than 10 steals in each of the last four games, and in seven of the last eight contests. The Falcons have had double-figure steal totals seven times in 10 MAC games heading into this weekend's UT rematch.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE ROCKETS
• Toledo is 8-6 overall, and the Rockets are 4-6 in MAC play entering Saturday's game. UT downed Northern Illinois last week, before dropping single-digit decisions to Buffalo and Central Michigan.
• Quinesha Lockett leads the team with 18.2 points per game, while Sophia Wiard have 14.4 and 13.5 ppg, respectively. Sammi Mikoniwicz has 8.7 ppg and a team-high 7.4 rpg.
• The Rockets are 7-3 at home and 1-3 on the road this season to date. In the MAC, UT is 3-3 in the Glass City and 1-3 away from home. Head coach Tricia Cullop welcomed back eight letterwinners, including one starter, from a 2019-20 club that finished 14-17 overall and 7-11 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Toledo, 43-37, in the all-time series, and BG captured this year's first meeting, 69-57 in Toledo two weeks ago (Jan. 16). The Rockets picked up a narrow victory in last year's lone meeting, winning a 79-72 overtime decision at Savage Arena (Jan. 18, 2020). The teams have not met at the Stroh since a 79-65 Rocket win on Jan. 19, 2019.
• BGSU is 20-13 in home games, 15-21 on the road and 8-3 in neutral-site events vs. the Rockets over the years. Much more series information can be found on page 23.
