Julia Walz Named MAC East Defensive Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference announced Monday (Nov. 1) the MAC honors for volleyball for the past week of competition. Bowling Green senior Julia Walz was selected MAC East Defensive Player of the Week, her fifth honor of the 2021 season. The Falcons have had at least one player recognized as MAC Player of the Week for six consecutive weeks.

Walz helped the Bowling Green Falcons to a weekend split, including a road win in the Battle of I-75. On Friday, Walz led the Orange and Brown with 17 digs and was one of four Falcons to register an ace. The following night, Walz recorded 32 digs in BGSU's defeat of Toledo. This is the third match of the season where Walz has totaled 30 or more digs, and the second time she has done it in the last three matches. The senior also tallied two assists and two aces as the Falcons won in four sets.

Up Next
The Falcons return to the Stroh Center for a series against the Kent State Golden Flashes. The first game begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5. The second game begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6. Friday will be Fan Appreciation Night and Saturday will be Senior Night.
