Walz Named MAC East Defensive Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced Monday (Nov. 15) the MAC honors for volleyball for the past week of competition. Bowling Green senior Julia Walz was named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week, her seventh recognition of the season. The Falcons have had at least one recipient of a MAC East Player of the Week award in all eight weeks of conference competition.
The Falcons conclude the 2021 regular season with a home match against Miami (OH). Bowling Green will host the Redhawks in the Stroh Center at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17.

MAC Volleyball East Division Defensive Player of the Week

On Friday, Julia Walz tallied a team-high 23 digs, including 14 in the opening set. BGSU limited Ohio to a .211 attack percentage as the Falcons swept the Bobcats. Walz also added three assists and one ace. The following day, Walz logged 30 digs, her fourth 30-dig performance of the season. The senior now averages 6.49 digs per set in conference matches, the highest number in the MAC.
