Â
Coach Tomic's Take
"To have Petra and Julia recognized as the MAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year is a tremendous honor for our program. More importantly, I am grateful that other coaches recognized and rewarded these two outstanding players. Petra is an all-around great volleyball player who impacts our team positively in every aspect of the game, offensively, defensively, and behind the serving line. Petra's presence, on and off the court, and how respected she is by everyone as a teammate and a person is invaluable to our team. She is a selfless player whose main goal is to be her best and play her best for her team, which makes her elite and special.
Â
Julia is one of the most driven and hard-working players I have ever coached. I am so proud to see her growth as a player, teammate, and person during the last four years. Julia's competitive nature, athleticism, work ethic, and never-give-up attitude are attributes that make her an outstanding libero. I love to coach Julia because she is determined to be the best that she can be and pushes everyone around her to be better.
Â
We are also incredibly proud to have four players in the All-MAC Teams. Having Petra, Julia, and Katelyn on the All-MAC First Team, Hanna on All-MAC Second Team, and Kat on All-Freshman Team is a big honor for our program, and I am thankful to my fellow MAC coaches for recognizing all of our players.
Â
Katelyn's impact on our team is known to anyone who has seen our team play. She is one of our Go-To players who carries a big offensive load for our team. She has gotten better and better each year because of her commitment to excellence.
Â
Hanna's leadership on the court, emotional composure, and consistency are the first things that come to my mind and the reasons why she belongs on the All-MAC Team. She is a selfless teammate who has played a major role, as a setter and as a leader, in our team's success this year.
Â
We are thrilled that Kat has been recognized as one of the top MAC freshmen. We knew when we recruited her that she had the potential to be one of the best outside hitters in the MAC. She is a great learner, works hard, wants to get better, and is a great teammate. We are excited to see her continue to develop into a six-rotation outside hitter who will have an even more significant impact on our team in years to come."
