Falcons Fall at WVU; Now Prepare for MAC Tournament
November 04, 2021 | Men's Soccer
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University scored a pair of goals just over a minute apart in the second half Thursday night (Nov. 4), downing the Bowling Green State University men's soccer team by a 2-0 final. The Mid-American Conference match was held at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Luke McCormick and Frederik Jorgensen scored the goals for the Mountaineers (11-2-4, 4-1-1 MAC), with McCormick's marker coming just past the hour mark and Jorgensen doubling the lead just 74 seconds later.
McCormick's goal came after BGSU goalkeeper Brendan Graves had saved his initial shot. The Falcon sophomore blocked McCormick's point-blank one-timer after a right-side cross, but the WVU striker poked at the rebound and was able to trundle it just over the line.
Jorgensen knocked home the rebound of a shot that had hit the post, giving the Mountaineers a 2-0 lead with 61:29 gone.
Graves made four saves on the night, while WVU 'keeper Steven Tekesky had two stops at the other end of the field.
The Falcons now turn their attention toward next week's MAC Tournament.
