BGSU Baseball Releases 2022 Schedule
December 16, 2021 | Baseball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team and Head Coach Kyle Hallock announced the schedule for the upcoming 2022 schedule. The Falcons will be embarking on their second season under Coach Hallock after going 20-30 in his first season at the team's helm in 2021. The 2022 schedule is set to see 15 non-conference games and 41 conference contests for a total of 56 games this season.Â
Coach Hallock on the 2022 Schedule:
"We are excited to take the field for the 2022 season. Our non conference schedule will take us to Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky early in the year and then to New Jersey for a series in May against Rutgers. The opening weekend against St. Louis in Alabama will be a great experience as the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium is one of the finest in the country. The conference schedule will be a great test to our team and we look forward to that yearly challenge. The MAC Tournament has returned and that's great for every team in our league. Our midweeks against Oakland and Michigan State will provide more opportunities to keep our team sharp in between conference series."
The Non-Conference Schedule
The Falcons will start the 2022 season on Feb. 18 with a weekend series in Hoover, Ala. against St. Louis. From there, Bowling Green will take on Austin Peay (Feb. 25-27) and Eastern Kentucky (March 4-6). The Orange and Brown also have Oakland (March 22, April 5) and Michigan State (March 29) mixed in during the conference schedule, including the home opener against Oakland on March 22. The non-conference slate is set to conclude in May against Rutgers (May 13-14).Â
The MAC Schedule
Bowling Green's conference schedule will begin on March 11 with a four-game series in Oxford, Ohio. The Falcons will head to Muncie, Ind. March 18-20 before returning home to Steller Field. The home conference schedule will begin on March 25 with a weekend series against Ohio. The list of MAC teams coming to Steller Field this season will include Akron (April 1-3), Central Michigan (April 15-17), Western Michigan (April 22-24) and will conclude with the Battle of I-75 (May 6-8). As for road conference series, the Orange and Brown will also travel to play Kent State (April 8-10), Eastern Michigan (April 29-May 1) and Northern Illinois (May 20-22).Â
Coach Hallock on the 2022 Roster:
"Our team has utilized the preseason workout phase well. We saw growth all over the field. Each position group took steps forward. This 2022 team takes a business-like approach to the game. Our players are serious and intentional with their desire to perform at our standard on a consistent basis. As a result, the culture in practice is transforming into a game day identity. Our coaching staff believes in each player in our locker room and everyone's role has value to our operation. It's go time and we are excited to find out where we are as a program."
