BGSU Baseball Announces Addition Of Six Transfers Ahead Of 2026-27 Season

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball program will welcome six transfers to the team for the 2027 campaign. Over the summer, the Falcons added redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher Nathan Cunningham, redshirt senior right-handed pitcher Tate Farquhar, redshirt senior infielder Sebastian Lopez, sophomore catcher outfielder Owen McKoon, redshirt junior left-handed pitcher Ryan Sigale, and redshirt junior infielder Evan Slawinski.
Nathan Cunningham, RHP, Redshirt Sophomore
Coming to the Falcons from nearby Terra State, Nathan Cunningham appeared in nine games last season for the Titans. Over the course of the season, Cunningham totaled 10 innings of work, striking out 10 batters in the process. He added two saves to his season stats, including one against Owens Community College to clinch the conference title.
Tate Farquhar, RHP, Redshirt Senior
A native of Highland, Mich., Farquhar began his collegiate career at Michigan State, spending three seasons with the Spartans before playing for Troy in 2026. For the Trojans, Farquhar made five appearances totaling 4.2 innings of work while striking out four. He logged hitless outings against both Georgia and Southern Miss, coming in back-to-back outings spanning 2.2 innings pitched.
As for his time with Michigan State, Farquhar redshirted in 2023 and missed the 2024 season due to injury. As for 2025, he posted a 3-3 record, tying for second on MSU's roster for wins. Farquhar maintained a 6.65 ERA over 18 appearances, including seven starts. He managed to strike out 34 batters over 44.2 innings of work, ranking third on the team for innings pitched. Following the season, he earned CSC Academic All-District, Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Academic Distinguished Scholar accolades.
Over the summer, Farquhar pitched for the Lexington County Blowfish in the Coastal Plain League. He appeared in seven games with one start, totaling 14.1 innings of work. Farquhar allowed just six runs, maintaining a 3.77 ERA while striking out 18 batters. He wrapped up the summer with a 1-0 record as well as a save.
Sebastian Lopez, INF, Redshirt Senior
Originally from Henderson, Nev., Lopez will be joining the Falcons after spending the last four seasons with Seattle University. Over the four seasons, Lopez has appeared in 65 games with 37 starts for Seattle. This past year, he posted a .364 batting average over 22 at-bats, logging eight hits, seven runs scored, five RBI, three doubles and a home run.
In 2025, Lopez appeared in 37 games with 26 starts, registering 16 hits, half of which came via double. He concluded the season with a .719 OPS. Lopez missed the 2024 season, but appeared in 16 games with five starts as a freshman in 2023. During the 2023 campaign, he logged a double, two runs scored and an RBI over 14 at-bats.
Owen McKoon, C/OF, Sophomore
Arriving in Bowling Green from Perry, Ohio, McKoon will join the Falcons after spending his freshman season at UL Monroe. During his freshman season, McKoon appeared in seven games for the Warhawks, logging four at-bats. He drew a walk and was hit by a pitch while logging an RBI.
During the summer, McKoon suited up for the Hamilton Joes of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, playing alongside fellow Falcon Joey Buchanan. With the Joes, McKoon appeared in 34 games while maintaining a .316 batting average. He added 30 runs scored, 20 RBI, 13 stolen bases. As for extra base hits, he racked up four doubles, two home runs and a triple on top of drawing 15 walks and being hit by 20 pitches.
Ryan Sigale, LHP, Redshirt Junior
Joining Bowling Green from Bolingbrook, Ill., Ryan Sigale arrives with two years of JUCO under his belt. An NJCAA All-Academic Second Team in 2024, Sigale began his career at DuPage where he appeared in 14 games with one start. He struck out 19 batters over 26 innings pitched. In 2025, Sigale transitioned to Lincoln Trail College, appearing in 11 games with two starts while posting a 1-2 record. With LTC, he tossed 24 innings while striking out 19. He spent the 2026 campaign with Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.
Over the summer, Sigale pitched for the Green Bay Rockers and the Rockford Rivets of the Northwoods League. Combined, Sigale appeared in 11 games, posting a 1-1 record over 13.2 innings pitched. He totaled 11 strikeouts and maintained a 4.61 ERA.
Evan Slawinski, INF, Redshirt Junior
Hailing from Clayton, N.C., Slawinski will join the Falcons after spending the last season with the University of Tampa. Prior to his time with Tampa, Slawinksi played two seasons at Louisburg College. With the Hurricanes, Slawinski appeared in 75 games, maintaining a batting average of .332 over 226 at-bats. For his career, he totaled 75 hits, 74 runs scored and 62 RBI while adding 16 doubles and 10 home runs. He added 62 walks drawn and 28 stolen bases.
During his second season with Louisburg, Slawinksi played in 37 games, tallying 40 hits, 42 runs scored and 39 RBI. He added nine doubles, six RBI and 30 walks drawn. Additionally, of his 28 career stolen bases with Hurricanes, 22 came during the 2025 campaign.
