BGSU Baseball Welcomes Joey Gamache As Assistant Coach

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team and Head Coach Kyle Hallock announced changes to the baseball program's coaching staff. The Falcons will welcome Joey Gamache to the staff as an Assistant Coach with Matt Rembielak being promoted to Recruiting Coordinator. Gamache will assist Rembielak with the offense and recruiting while taking over first base coach duties as well as working primarily with the outfielders defensively.
Coach Hallock on the impact of Coach Rembielak:
"Coach Rembielak has made an impact since his arrival to our program last winter. He has shown the ability to recruit and develop players on both sides of the ball in a short amount of time. We are looking forward to the expansion of his role in our program.

"We are excited to add Coach Gamache to the Falcon baseball family. He has experience working at multiple Division I programs and assisted in the talent development of high round draft picks. Coach Gamache will work tirelessly to enhance our program's vision and output."
Get To Know Coach Gamache
Joey Gamache comes to the Falcons after stints with Eastern Illinois and The Citadel. Most recently with Eastern Illinois, Gamache coached first base and worked with the catchers while assisting with hitting. With Gamache's guidance, the Panthers went 25-23, posting their first season above .500 since 2009. With the Panthers, Gamache worked closely with Trey Sweeney who went on to be named First-Team All-America, the OVC Player of the Year and was selected 20th overall by the New York Yankees.
As for his time at The Citadel, Gamache served as the Director of Operations and Video Coordinator during the shortened COVID season, seeing the team finish 10-6.
Aside from collegiate baseball, Gamache was an assistant coach for the Vermont Lake Monsters of the FCBL during the summer of 2021. The Lake Monsters won the league championship and went 30-6 over the last 36 games of the season to capture first place and the title.
Gamache also was an assistant coach with the Mandan Flickertails (Bismark, N.D.) in the Bismarck Pod of the Northwoods League during the summer of 2020. In this role, Gamache coached third base while working with the hitters and coaching the infielders and catchers.
Gamache earned a degree in exercise science from Springfield College where he played from 2016-2018. Gamache played both middle infield and served as a relief pitcher for the Pride. As a sophomore in 2016, Gamache posted the lowest ERA for the program since 1977 with a mark of 1.50. He went 1-0 over seven appearances while totaling 12 innings pitched. As for his junior season, Gamache went 2-0 through five starts, totaling 30.2 innings with an ERA of 3.52 and 24 strikeouts.
Gamache grew up in Lebanon, Conn. and graduated from Lyman Memorial High School.
