Falcons Picked to Finish Third in MAC; BGSU Adds Match vs. Syracuse

The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team has been picked to finish third in the Mid-American Conference race in the spring of 2021. The preseason poll, the result of voting by the conference's six head coaches, was released by the league office on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 16).

Akron was picked to capture the spring 2021 MAC title. The Zips received three of the six first-place votes and 33 total points. The Zips were followed by Western Michigan, the Falcons, West Virginia, Northern Illinois and SIUE in the poll.

The Broncos received two first-place votes while BGSU received one. The complete poll can be found below.

The Falcons have added a game to the schedule. BGSU will travel to Buffalo, N.Y., for a neutral-site matchup with Syracuse next Tuesday, Feb. 23. The contest is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

BGSU will look to get the regular season underway on Saturday evening (Feb. 20), when the Falcons head to Dayton for a 6:00 p.m. match vs. the Flyers. For the latest updates to the BGSU men's soccer schedule, CLICK HERE.

BGSU closed the 2019 season with an overall record of 13-7-1. The Falcons posted a double-digit win total for the first time since 2014 and just the second time since 1998. BGSU more than doubled the team's victory total from the previous year. The Falcons defeated NIU and league regular-season champion UA to advance to the championship match of the 2019 MAC Tournament.

The Falcons have a record of 18-9-3 over the last 30 matches.
