Julia Walz Named MAC East Defensive Player Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday (Feb. 23) the MAC Honors for volleyball for the past week of competition. Of those named, Bowling Green's Julia Walz earned the MAC East Defensive Player of the Week honor, being her first time this season receiving the recognition and fourth time in her career after being named three times during the 2019 season.

Walz paced the Falcons in digs against Ohio on Thursday (Feb. 18), tallying 38 in the four-set to tie her career-high. This is already the third time that Walz has topped 20 digs this season while she was also just seven shy of the program record. On top of the digs, Walz also landed a career-high four aces for the Falcons, also two shy of the program record in four-sets.

The Orange and Brown will return to action this coming week taking to the road to face Kent State on Thursday and Friday (Feb. 25 and 26). Kent State will enter the series 8-1 to face the 9-0 Falcons, being the top two teams in the MAC. Thursday's match is set for a 6 p.m. start while Friday will begin at 5 p.m. while both matches will be streamed on an ESPN platform.
