March 15, 2021 | Volleyball
Cleveland, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced Monday (March 15) the MAC Honors for volleyball for the past week of competition. Of those named, Bowling Green claimed two of the three East Division recognitions with sophomore Petra Indrova being named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week and junior Hanna Laube being named MAC East Setter of the Week. This comes after the Falcons completed a sweep over Eastern Michigan to advance to 15-0 on the season, tying the BGSU Athletics department record for best start to a season, matching that of the 1964 men's tennis team.Â
Indrova put together two strong matches against Eastern Michigan as the Falcons advanced to 15-0 and clinched a berth in the MAC Tournament. Indrova began the series against EMU with a team-high 15 kills while maintaining a .353 hitting percentage and landing an ace. As for the second match, Indrova logged a .414 hitting percentage on 29 attempts with 14 kills and just two errors. She was also able to tally 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. The award is the first of the season for Indrova and second of her career.Â
As for Laube, she led the Falcons in assists in both wins over Eastern Michigan. In the first match, Laube had 38 assists, averaging just over 12 per set while also registering two kills and three block assists. As for the second match, Laube had 42 assists over three sets for an average of 14 assists per set. She again landed two kills in addition to two aces and seven digs with another block assist. The award marks the fourth time this season that Laube has been named.Â
The Orange and Brown will return to action tomorrow (March 16) as they travel north for the Battle of I-75, set for a 5 p.m. start. The Falcons will then return to the Stroh Center on Friday and Saturday (March 19 and 20) to host Akron.Â
