Each week, the BGSU Strategic Communications Department breaks down the week ahead in athletics and recaps the week gone by. Listed below are all games over the course of the next seven days with links and information for fans. Following that info are recaps, scores and links from games over the past week.
THE WEEK AHEAD
MEN'S BASKETBALL (14-11)

Bowling Green opens the CBI with an 11:30 a.m. game against Stetson on Monday, March 22. The winner advances to play either Coastal Carolina or Bryant at 5:30 p.m. on March 23. The CBI Championship Game is set for 8 p.m. on March 24. All games in the tournament will be streamed live on FloHoops. The Falcons will be competing in the CBI for the first time. The tournament began in 2008, and with the exception of 2020 (canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic), has been held every season since its inception. South Florida won the last tournament in 2019. Bowling Green went 14-11 in the regular season. Head Coach Michael Huger led the Falcons to a 10-8 record in conference play. BGSU has won 10-plus league games in three-straight seasons for just the third time in school history. The Falcons are led by a trio of seniors in 2020-21, including First Team All-MAC guard Justin Tuner, who became Bowling Green's all-time leading scorer this season and currently ranks 10th in MAC history with 2,077 career points. Forward Daeqwon Plowden was named Third Team All-MAC in 2020-21, and ranks 10th in school history in both career rebounds (719) and blocked shots (89). Plowden ranks 38th on BGSU's all-time scoring list with 1,124 points. Fellow senior Trey Diggs was named the MAC's Sixth Man of the Year in 2020-21. Diggs, who averaged 11.4 points as a senior, has knocked down 106 three-pointers since becoming a Falcon in 2019.

Bowling Green is going for the series win on Monday (March 22) afternoon in Athens at 1 p.m.. After dropping the MAC opener by a score of 2-1, the Falcons won both games of Sunday's (March 21) doubleheader to move to 2-1 in league play. The pair of wins marked Bowling Green's first doubleheader sweep on the road in MAC play since beating NIU twice on April 1, 2017. The Falcons were led by dominant pitching, as starters Andrew Abrahamowicz and Rigo Ramos each tossed complete-game gems. Offensively, Kyle Gurney hit over .440 on the weekend, including a two home run effort in the first game of Sunday's twin bill. Bowling Green continues MAC play over the weekend with a four-game series at Akron over March 26-28.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (21-7)

The Bowling Green women's basketball team will wrap up the 2020-21 season on Monday, as BG meets Drake in the consolation-bracket final of the WNIT's Rockford Regional. The game will be streamed via FloHoops and will also be broadcast by the Bowling Green Radio Sports Organization. Coach Robyn Fralick's team battled back from 18 points down on Saturday, picking up a 77-76 win over Dayton to earn the right to play on Monday. Olivia Trice had 17 points and Nyla Hampton, Trice's high-school teammate, scored 16 vs. the Flyers. UD scored the game's first 16 points, and the Falcons trailed by a 20-2 count, but BG tied the game before halftime en route to the win. Win or lose, this is the final game of the season for the Falcons, who won the MAC's regular-season title after being picked to finish 11th in the 12-team league.

The Bowling Green volleyball program will head into the final week of the regular season with three matches on the schedule this week. The Falcons will enter the week holding an 18-0 record that has already clinched the MAC Regular Season Championship as well as the top seed in the MAC Tournament and hosting rights for the tournament. The first match of the week for the Falcons will be the second match in the Battle of I-75, set for Tuesday (March 23) at 6 p.m. The Falcons and Rockets met last week also in a match that Bowling Green won 3-1. From there, the Orange and Brown will take to the road, facing Buffalo on Friday and Saturday (March 26 & 27) to conclude the regular season. The Bulls are currently 3-16 heading into the week.Â

After opening its season at Miami's Blizzard Buster meet Saturday, the BGSU outdoor track and field team will split squads to compete in two major meets this weekend. Most of the team will head to the Texas Relays, including Kaila Butler, who ranks among the top 10 in the country in the hammer throw. She opened the season with a throw of 210-feet-1 at Miami. In Raleigh, BGSUÂ will take a pair of distance runners in Katerina Shuble (running the mile) and Sydney Niekamp (running the 10,000).Â

The Bowling Green tennis program will continue MAC play this coming weekend with two more matches on the schedule. The Falcons will enter the weekend with a 7-3 standing while being 3-1 within the MAC after winning the Battle of I-75 in a close 4-3 finish on Sunday (March 21). Bowling Green will begin the weekend on the road, traveling to face the 12-2 Ball State Cardinals on Friday (March 26) for a 1 p.m. start. From there, the Falcons will transition back home on Sunday (March 28) to host 7-6 Miami. The match at Miami is also scheduled for 1 p.m. as the Falcons will look to remain perfect at home.Â

The Falcons will open the road portion of the MAC schedule this weekend, heading to Muncie for a four-game weekend series with Ball State. As is the case every weekend in conference play, the teams are scheduled to meet in single games Friday and Sunday and a doubleheader on Saturday. BGSU went 2-2 against Central Michigan last weekend, with Payton Gottshall pitching a pair of shutouts. In the Falcons' first home game in nearly two years, the redshirt freshman threw a no-hitter as BG downed the Chippewas, 8-0, in five innings. Gottshall also fired a Saturday shutout in a 1-0 Falcon win. At the plate, Madi McCoy was 8-for-12 with three multiple-hit games vs. the Chippewas. BGSU is scheduled to play each of the other 10 MAC teams four times each, with remaining home series vs. Akron (April 2-4), Miami (April 30-May 1) and Kent State (May 14-16), and road trips to BSU, Buffalo (April 9-11), Ohio (April 16-18) and Northern Illinois (May 7-9). The Falcons will play two midweek doubleheaders each vs. Toledo (away on April 20, home on April 28) and Western Michigan (home on May 4, away on May 12).

BGSU closes the regular season Saturday at Akron with a 1:00 pm swim meet. In a non-traditional year in which the national championships took place this past weekend, the Falcons will make their final preparations for the MAC Championships, scheduled to take place April 15-17 at Eastern Michigan University. Backstroker Daisy Platts broke the school record in the 100 backstroke at the national championships and also had a strong performance in the 200 backstroke.Â
WOMEN'S SOCCER (4-1, 4-1 MAC)

The Falcons begin the second half of the abbreviated regular-season schedule with a Sunday contest vs. Ohio. The Falcons defeated the Bobcats in overtime, 1-0, in the teams' first meeting on March 7 at Cochrane Stadium. BGSU has kept three clean sheets in as many home matches after two more victories at Cochrane last week. The Falcons outshot Miami and Kent State by a combined 42-5, and outscored the RedHawks and Golden Flashes by a combined 7-0. BG downed MU, 2-0, on Thursday night, with Kennedy White and Madi Wolfbauer scoring the Falcons' goals and Lili Berg earning the shutout in net. On Sunday, BG exploded for four second-half goals in a 5-0 win over KSU. Katie Cox scored the lone goal of the first half, and Nikki Cox and Madison Alberty scored in the second half. And, Wolfbauer made it three goals in two games, finding the net twice vs. the Flashes. Berg and Becky Moss combined on the shutout, the Falcons' fourth in five matches. BGSU has an overall record of 45-19-7 over the last three-plus seasons.
MEN'S SOCCER (5-3, 3-1 MAC)

The men's soccer Falcons are riding a three-match winning streak, and BG has also posted three consecutive shutouts heading into Sunday's home matchup with West Virginia. The Falcons have blanked three-straight MAC opponents for the first time since 2012, including 1-0 wins on the road at WVU and Northern Illinois last week. Logan Kowalczyk made three saves in each game as he and the BG back line kept the Mountaineers and Huskies off of the scoreboard. Jacob Erlandson scored the lone goal in Morgantown, while Naperville native Chris Sullivan registered the only goal of Sunday's NIU game in his home state. Sullivan now has a team-leading 10 points, and has been involved in the scoring of seven of BGSU's eight goals this season to date. Entering the WVU rematch, the Falcons are 23-12-3 over the last 38 contests, dating to late in the 2018 season.
