FULL GAME NOTES
Battling The BullsÂ
While their record reads 4-16, the Buffalo Bulls have been a much improved squad over the last half of the season. They began 0-10, but have won three of their last five matches. The Bulls turn of events began on March 13 when they were able to come away with a 3-0 sweep over Northern Illinois. That success rolled into a 3-0 sweep against Akron three days later on March 16. After losing twice to Toledo, in five and four sets respectively, Buffalo returned to the win column with another win over Akron, this time in four sets.Â
For The First Time Since … Â
For the first time since Dec. 6, 2019 the Falcons saw a mark in the loss column, being the team's first loss in 473 days. During that span the Falcons accumulated an 18-0 record, breaking the program records for best start and most consecutive wins while also registering the best start in the history of the BGSU Athletic department, surpassing the 15-0 start by the 1964 men's tennis team. The start pushed the Falcons to be outright MAC Regular Season Champions and clinched hosting rights as well as the top seed for the MAC Tournament, taking place on April 2 and 3.Â
Closing In On 1,000 KillsÂ
Katelyn Meyer is nearing the millennium mark for kills over her career in the Orange and Brown, currently with 999 with the Falcons, needing just a single kill to reach the milestone. So far this season Meyer has a team-high 273 kills. As a freshman, Meyer landed 267 kills before nearly doubling that number as a sophomore with 459 during the 2019 campaign. Meyer is currently maintaining a career-best .236 hitting percentage along with an average of 3.85 kills per set, which is fourth in the Mid-American Conference.Â
Kidwell Closing In On The All-Time MarkÂ
Katie Kidwell is closing in on the all-time record for career block assists after moving into second place last weekend against Akron. Kidwell currently stands with 418 career block assists, needing 26 more to pass Kendra Halm and become the program's all-time leader for the statistic. Kidwell is also close to moving up the career total blocks list as well. Currently with 482 total blocks, Kidwell needs five more to move past Tammy Schiller on the all-time list for fourth while the top spot on that list is 88 total blocks away.Â
Indrova Continues All-Around SeasonÂ
Against Toledo, Petra Indrova logged her 10th double-double of the season, this time with 14 kills and 13 digs. Having played just 19 matches this season, Indrova has had a double-double in just over half of the matches played by the Falcons. Arguably her best outing came on March 19 against Akron when she tied her season-high for kills with 20 while also logging a new career-best for digs with 19. Of the 10 MAC teams the Falcons have played this year, Indrova has a double-double against nine of them. She had one in each match against Northern Illinois, but didn't reach the mark against Western Michigan.Â
