Goalkeeper named to Team of the Week after another shutout
Bowling Green State University women's soccer standout Lili Berg has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week. The announcement was made Tuesday morning (March 30). Berg earns the honor for the first time in her career.
This is the second honor for the first-place Falcons in as many days. On Monday afternoon, Madi Wolfbauer was selected to the College Soccer News Team of the Week.
Berg, a native of New Berlin, Wis. (Catholic Memorial), helped the Falcons record a shutout in the lone match of the week, a 3-0 victory at Ohio on Sunday (March 28). Berg made a difficult save while the match was still scoreless, moments before the Falcons took the lead for good.
Berg and the Falcons have now kept three-straight clean sheets, and BGSU has five shutouts in this season's six matches. Berg has started all six games, and has three complete-match shutouts, including in both of the Ohio contests, while playing over 70 minutes in each of the other two.
On the season, she now has a goals-against average of 0.35, having allowed just two goals in over 514 minutes of action.
The Falcons (5-1-0, 5-1-0 MAC) are slated to conclude the home portion of the regular-season schedule this week, with matches vs. Akron Thursday night (April 1) and Buffalo Sunday afternoon (April 4) at Cochrane Stadium.
