• Bowling Green is 4-6 in MAC openers dating back to 2011. All four of those wins came on the road. The Falcons are 4-2 in conference openers on the road since 2011, which includes wins at Miami (OH) (2011), Kent State (2013), UMass (2014) and Buffalo (2015).

BGSU is the first "Group of 5" team to win at a "Power 5 School" without amassing 200 yards of total offense since Western Michigan beat Virginia in Charlottesville in 2006. They are one of three schools overall in 2021 to accomplish this feat (Rutgers at Syracuse; Iowa at Iowa State).
• LB Darren Anders is the only player in the nation this season with 25+ tackles (35), one interception, one interception and at 3.0+ tackles for loss (3). Anders currently ranks No. 28 in the nation and No. 2 in the MAC with 9.0 tackles per game.

• LB Brock Horne is the only underclassman in the nation with 20+ tackles, 2.0+ sacks and 1+ interceptions. He is one of six FBS players in 2021 with those numbers.
• QB Matt McDonald is No. 1 in the MAC in completion percentage (66.9). He also ranks No. 1 in the MAC in completions per game (22.25) and No. 2 in passing yards (886) and passing yards per game (221.5).
Bowling Green vs. Kent State

The Anniversary Award commemorates the founding of both institutions, which occurred in 1910 as a result of the Lowry Bill. The award was first given out in 1985 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of each school. The rivalry has overall been lop-sided, with Bowling Green winning 25 of the 34 meetings.

• BGSU is in search of its first win in a conference opener since a road win at Buffalo, 28-22, in 2015.
• The last time the Falcons opened up the MAC schedule with a win at Kent State was in 2013. BGSU won that matchup, 41-22, and went on to win the East Division championship and defeat NIU in the MAC Championship game.
The Win at Minnesota
• Bowling Green snapped Minnesota's 21-game winning streak against non-conference teams. It was the longest active streak in the nation heading into the game.
• The 10 points yielded by Bowling Green was the first time the Falcons held a "power-5" school to 10 or fewer points since topping Missouri, 17-10, in 1995.
• It was Bowling Green's first win over a member of the B1G since beating both Purdue and Maryland on the road in 2015.
• With 192 yards of total offense, it is the first time in records dating back to 2000 where Bowling Green won and did not surpass 200 yards of total offense.
