Volleyball Hosts Buffalo For 2021 MAC Home Opener

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons volleyball team (6-6, 2-0) will play in their first home Mid-American Conference (MAC) series with two matches against Buffalo (9-5, 2-0). Both matches will be played in the Stroh Center. The first match begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, and the second match begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2.

This will be the second conference series of the season for the Falcons, who defeated Akron twice last weekend. This will also be the first time BGSU has played on their home floor since Sunday, Sept. 19, when they swept Oakland in the 2021 home opener.

Friday's match will be televised on ESPN+. Saturday's match will be televised on ESPN3. Both matches will be broadcast by BGRSO.

Tickets, Parking, and Attendance Guidelines
Tickets for both matches are for sale beginning at $6. Tickets for Friday's match are available for digital purchase HERE. Tickets for Saturday's match are available for digital purchase HERE.
Parking will be available for free at the Stroh Center.
Regardless of vaccination status, all guests, staff, and vendors will be required to wear a face covering while in the Stroh Center. Fans are not required to show proof of vaccination to enter the Stroh Center, but face coverings – covering the nose and mouth – are required for all fans as they watch the game from their assigned seat and enter, exit, and move around. Children 2-years old and younger will not be required to wear a face covering. If spectators are unable to wear face coverings, they are encouraged not to attend games in-person for the sake of their health and the health of others.

Roster Sheets Go Digital
The printed roster sheets that are typically placed throughout the Stroh Center will now be available digitally. QR codes will be placed in various areas of the Stroh Center. Fans will be able to scan the code and access a digital copy of the match's roster sheet.

The Falcons hold a 34-10 series lead over the Bulls, including a 19-4 mark in matches played at Bowling Green. In their most recent match, Bowling Green swept Buffalo on March 27, 2021. This was the regular-season finale for both teams, with the victory being the Falcons' 20th of the 2020-21 season. The last time Buffalo visited the Stroh Center was on Nov. 22, 2019. The Orange and Brown swept the Bulls in the second round of the MAC Tournament.

The Buffalo Bulls travel to Bowling Green to play their first conference road matches of the season. They enter with a three-game win streak, with a win over Radford and two wins over Miami (OH). In those three wins, the Bulls hit .261, including a .368 mark in Saturday's sweep of Miami. The Bulls and Falcons are the only teams in the MAC that currently have a 2-0 conference record. Buffalo has swept the MAC East Player of the Week awards twice this season. In Week 3, Buffalo's Emma Gielas (Offensive), Maria Futey (Defensive), and Mandy Leigh (Setter) swept the awards. In Week 4, Milla Malik (Offensive), Hannah Jacoby (Defensive), and Leigh (Setter) claimed the awards for the Bulls.

- The Falcons swept the MAC East Player of the Week awards in Week 5. Petra Indrova won Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Hanna Laube earned her second Setter of the Week honor. Julia Walz was recognized as Defensive Player of the Week, her first selection of the year.
- In the last three games, BGSU is outhitting their opponents .344 to .083. In five of those sets, the Falcons limited their opponent to a hitting percentage of .000 or lower. Offensively, the Orange and Brown logged a hitting percentage over .400 in three sets.
- In the opening set of Friday's match against Akron, the Falcons went on a 17-0 run. This is the longest run in the Danijela Tomic era, and it is believed to be the longest run in program history.
- Through 12 games, the Falcons have three players with over 100 digs, each averaging more than 10 per match. Julia Walz leads the team with 172, Yelianiz Torres has 137, and Petra Indrova has 122.
