Falcon Volleyball Adds Lauryn Hovey To Program

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green volleyball program has announced the addition of Lauryn Hovey to the incoming freshman class for the 2022 season. Hovey is slated to join the Falcons after a very successful career with the Canadian Youth National Team, Waterloo Collegiate Institute, Team Ontario, and the KW Predators Volleyball Club.

Lauryn Hovey (Waterloo, Ontario / Waterloo Collegiate Institute)
A native of Waterloo, Ontario, Lauryn Hovey earned a spot on the 2021 Canadian Youth National Team. She represented Canada at the 2021 Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Girls' U18 World Championship, held in Durango, Mexico. She also participated in the 2021 National Excellence Program.

Hovey is a four-year letter winner at Waterloo Collegiate Institute in Waterloo, Ontario. Hovey led the Vikings to CWOSSA Championships in 2019 and 2020, earning Senior Team MVP each season. The Vikings were also Provincial Silver Medalists, WCSSAA Champions, and OFSAA Silver Medalists in 2020, with Hovey being named WCSSAA Senior Team MVP. In 2019, the Vikings were WCSSAA Silver Medalists. Hovey also played for the Waterloo Collegiate Institute basketball team, where she was selected 2020 Junior Team MVP.

Hovey's career also includes experience with Team Ontario, a provincial team that serves as a pipeline to the national team. In 2019, she played for Team Ontario Red and was named a 16U Ontario Volleyball All-Star, as a 15U athlete. In 2020, Hovey spent time with Team Ontario Black and Team Ontario Elite. She was named 16U Ontario Volleyball MVP and earned recognition as a 17U Ontario Volleyball All-Star, as a 16U athlete.

Hovey brings a multitude of accomplishments from her club volleyball career with the KW Predators Volleyball Club. She played for the KW Predators 13U, 14U, 15U, and 16U teams, with the 14U and 15U teams winning National Championships. In her first three seasons, Hovey won Team MVP three times while guiding the team to three Provincial Championships. In 2019, she was named a 15U National Championship All-Star.

The daughter of Ann Hovey, Lauryn has one sister, Cailyn. Ann played volleyball at the University of Waterloo. Lauryn is currently undecided on a major.
