Jessica Andrews Named MAC East Defensive Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the MAC Players of the Week Friday afternoon (Nov. 18). Of those named, Bowling Green's Jessica Andrews was named the MAC East Defensive Player of the Week. This marks the fourth time that Andrews has received the recognition this season and the eighth time that BGSU has had a player named to the award. The Falcons have also had four straight MAC East Defensive Player of the Week winners and seven of the last eight.
Andrews led the Falcons' defense against the RedHawks with seven blocks over the three sets. Andrews was part of seven of the eight BGSU blocks in the match, tallying one solo and seven block assists. She complimented the strong defense with an efficient attack, landing five kills on nine error-free attacks for a .556 attack percentage. The outing increased Andrews' blocks per set to 1.28, which is 35th in the nation.

The Falcons will advance to the MAC Tournament, which will be played Nov. 20-22. Bowling Green has clinched a first round bye and will be the No. 2 seed. The Falcons' first match will be on Monday (Nov. 21) at 7:00 p.m. against the winner of Sunday's match between Ohio and Buffalo.
