Christian Stoever Named CCHA Goaltender of the Week

Sophomore makes 71 saves in two games, earns first conference award of the season
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has recognized four student-athletes as its Players of the Week for the previous week of competition. Bowling Green's Christian Stoever was named CCHA Goaltender of the Week for the first time this season and second time in his career. The sophomore stopped 71-of-75 shots over the weekend, earning a .947 save percentage.

CCHA Goaltender of the Week: Christian Stoever, Sophomore, Bowling Green
Christian Stoever led the Bowling Green Falcons to a series split with the Michigan Tech Huskies, making 35 saves on Friday and 36 saves on Saturday. In Friday's contest, he kept the Falcons in the game early, making 27 saves in the first two periods. His 35-save total was his second-highest of the season. The following night, the sophomore was even more impressive, totaling 36 saves. 32 of those came in the first two frames, with several of those coming during sequences of a ferocious Michigan Tech attack. He stood tall during multiple breakaway opportunities for the Huskies, limiting them to one goal while the Falcons exploded for six tallies. With the performance, he earned his first win of the season. Stoever leads the CCHA in total saves (228) and saves per game (32.6).

This is Stoever's first conference honor of the season and second of his career. He earned his first career honor on Dec. 13, 2021. He is the second Falcon to be named CCHA Goaltender of the Week, joining Zack Rose who was selected on Oct. 10. The Falcons have had three players earn a conference honor this year, with Austen Swankler being named CCHA Forward of the Week on Oct. 3.
