THE OPENING TIP – STREAKS, STORYLINES AND SIDEBARS
• The Falcons are coming off of an 81-52 win over Northern Illinois at the Stroh Center on Wednesday night (Feb. 9). The 29-point margin of victory was BGSU's largest home win over a MAC opponent in the Robyn Fralick Era.
• Entering February, NIU was the only MAC foe that BGSU had not defeated at least once since the start of the 2020-21 season. The Falcons proceeded to top the Huskies on back-to-back Wednesdays.
• Junior Elissa Brett, after scoring a career-high 22 points in the Falcons' first '21-22 win over NIU (Feb. 2), had a game-high 20 points in the return match. Brett set a new career standard for three-pointers made, and then tied it seven days later, as she went 4-for-6 from the arc in each of the two wins over the Huskies.
• Madisen Parker broke a school record on Wednesday night, as she played in her 136th career game as a Falcon. The old record of 135 games played was shared by Tracy Pontius, Lauren Prochaska and Jen Uhl, all of whom played from 2007-11.
• BGSU is 20-9 in MAC regular-season games since the start of the 2020-21 season, after going 8-46 in the previous three seasons (2017-18 to '19-20). That 20-9 record includes a 12-4 mark at the Stroh and an 8-5 ledger in league road games.
• Parker is moving up another BGSU career list. She has made a total of 228 three-point field goals in her career, good for fourth place on that BGSU list. Parker's next target is Tracy Pontius (2007-11), who hit 235 treys in her storied Falcon career.
• The Falcons set a Stroh Center record on Wednesday, shooting 63.6% from three-point range in the win over NIU. BGSU went 14-for-22 from the arc, and broke the old mark of 57.9% (11-of-19), set by the Falcons on Nov. 29, 2011, vs. Western Kentucky. That WKU game was just the third women's basketball game in Stroh Center history.
• As a team, the Falcons have made at least one three-point field goal in 539 consecutive games over the last 17 years. That is the fifth-longest active streak in the nation.
• Kadie Hempfling has now started 109 career games at BGSU, good for eighth place on that school list. She has a shot to move into the top-five in school history in that category by the end of the regular season.
• Hempfling is also ranked on the BGSU career lists for scoring (26th), rebounding (12th) and assists (sixth). Parker has broken into the top 40 on the BG career scoring chart, and currently ranks 38th.
• Entering Saturday's game, Morgan Sharps leads the MAC – and is second in the nation – in three-point field-goal percentage. She has hit 47.6% of her long-distance shots this season.
• BGSU is scheduled to play a lot of games during the year's shortest month. The Falcons are slated to play 10 games in a 25-day span during February. Beginning with Saturday's 'Battle of I-75,' BG plays six contests in 12 days.
