Falcons Set To Start Spring Schedule With Mid-American Match Play Challenge

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team will kick off the spring portion of the 2021-22 season by serving as the host school at the Mid-American Match Play Challenge in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The event will be held at the Royal Lakes Golf Course and span two days (Feb. 7-8). The Mid-American Match Play Challenge will mark the first match play event of the season for BGSU and serve as the first of four events this spring before the MAC Championships in April.

The Falcons will be one of 12 teams competing in the Mid-American Match Play Challenge, entering as the No. 8 seed in the tournament with a GolfStat Rank of 222. The rest of the field will be as follows by seed with their GolfStat ranking: Central Michigan (140), Northern Illinois (151), Illinois State (163), Akron (167), Eastern Michigan (180), Morehead State (186), Toledo (189), Western Illinois (227), Western Michigan (228), Ohio (229) and Ball State (230).

Dates: Monday & Tuesday, February 7-8
Format: Each team of five players will compete in at least three matches, some four based on wins and losses. The top four seeded teams will receive a bye for Day 1, morning wave. Matches 16 through 19 will be a "round robin" format.
Tee Times: Matches will begin at 7:50 a.m. both days with tee times at both #1 and #10.

- Erin Fahey will be making her head coaching debut with the Falcons after being hired to replace Stephanie Young this past January.
- The Mid-American Match Play Challenge will be the first event of the 2022 calendar and spring season for the Falcons.
- The event will mark the first time during the 2021-22 season that BGSU will serve as the host for a competition.
- This will mark the first match play event of the season for the Orange and Brown.
- At last year's Mid-American Match Play Challenge, Bowling Green placed ninth with a team score of 916. Kayla Davis was the Falcons' top finisher, tying for 21st in the field.
