BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team put together one of the most complete performances of the season, rolling along to an 81-52 win over Northern Illinois University Wednesday night (Feb. 9). The Mid-American Conference game was held at the Stroh Center.

Kadie Hempfling and Morgan Sharps scored 11 points apiece, and Hempfling had a double-double, tying for game honors with 10 rebounds.
The 29-point margin of victory marked the Falcons' largest home win over a MAC opponent in the Robyn Fralick Era.

The Falcons went 14-of-22 from the arc on the night. BG's three-point field-goal percentage of 63.6% tied for 10th place in school history, and was the team's highest long-distance success rate in nearly 12 years.

Wednesday night was the Falcons' Play 4Kay/Pink Game, and the team also celebrated National Girls & Women in Sport Day.
Â
NOTE OF THE NIGHT
• With just under five minutes gone, Madisen Parker subbed into the game. It marked her 136th career appearance as a Falcon, a new school record. The old mark of 135 games played was shared by three BGSU teammates – Tracy Pontius, Lauren Prochaska and Jen Uhl.
• Parker scored eight points on the night and was a perfect 2-for-2 from three-point range. She now has 894 points and has hit 228 triples in her BG career.
QUOTING COACH FRALICK
"It was a great team win tonight. With the quick turnaround – we just played them a week ago – I thought our kids did a very good job of locking in. We played great team basketball across the board. We shared the ball, and we had a lot of people making contributions and playing engaged basketball through 40 minutes. I'm proud of our team effort tonight."
FIRST QUARTER
• The Falcons trailed for a grand total of 15 seconds on Wednesday night. After Janae Poisson opened the game's scoring with a three-pointer just under 90 seconds into the contest, Kadie Hempfling took an Amy Velasco pass and knocked down a long-range shot. That began an 8-0 run for the home team., as Elissa Brett made a layup, then drilled a shot from the top of the arc.
• Moments later, Brett's second three-pointer of the contest was BG's response to another Poisson trey and gave the Falcons an 11-6 lead. Nyla Hampton hit a layup, then found Kenzie Lewis cutting along the baseline for another layup and a 15-8 advantage.
• Zoe Miller, soon after entering the game for the first time, made a baby hook shot, then hit a pair of free throws. The teams traded points for several minutes during that stretch, with the Huskies getting within three points on several occasions.
• After Emily Meinert's long two-pointer cut the BG lead to 19-16 at the 1:38 mark, however, the Huskies would not score again for nearly seven minutes. Hempfling and Morgan Sharps each hit long-range shots to give the Orange and Brown a 25-16 lead after one quarter.
• BGSU shot 60% from the floor in the first period, going 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the arc. Brett scored eight points and Hempfling six in the quarter, with Velasco dishing out four assists.
SECOND QUARTER
• Velasco's driving layup opened the second-quarter scoring and extended BGSU's run, a run which would not end until more than half the period was gone.
• Hampton scored seven-straight points, knocking down a pull-up jumper, then a driving layup. When she took a Brett pass and hit a three-pointer from the left wing, BGSU's lead was 34-16 and the Huskies used a timeout.
• But, out of the break, the Falcons forced a miss, and Hempfling found Madisen Parker for a corner three, an 18-0 run and a 37-16 advantage.
• Finally, with 4:54 left before halftime, A'Jah Davis hit a shot in the paint to stop that BG run. Moments later, though, Brett took a Lewis cross-court pass and drained a three-point try, and the junior then hit a pair of charity tosses for a 42-20 lead. Miller scored three-straight BGSU points for the home team, before Paulina Castro beat the halftime horn with a three-pointer that cut the Falcons' lead to 45-27 at the break.
• The Falcons shot 57.1% from the field in the first half, going 16-of-28, while holding NIU to a 31.4% success rate.
THIRD QUARTER
• A Sharps floater opened the second-half scoring, and the Xavier transfer knocked down a three-point try after Hempfling saved the ball from going out of bounds. The Falcons' lead was 50-27.
• NIU's first points of the quarter came on a Mikayla Brandon jumper at the 6:30 mark, but Brett scored the game's next five points, with her transition layup putting BG up by a 55-29 score.
• The lead reached 27 when Velasco found Parker for a three-ball, and buckets by Miller, Parker and Jocelyn Tate gave the Falcons a 31-point advantage, 64-33, with two minutes left in the quarter.
• BGSU shot 61.5% in the period, and the Falcons were shooting 58.5% (24-of-41) after 30 minutes of action.
FOURTH QUARTER
• Hempfling took a Sharps pass and knocked down a three-point try just 10 seconds into the quarter, giving BG a 32-point lead (and receiving an emphatic chest-bump from Sharps as they ran back down the court). After the Huskies scored the game's next six points, BG answered with two quick buckets, as Hempfling scored on a reverse layup before Brett's steal and run-out.
• Tate hit a layup with the shot clock winding down, and Lewis fed Sharps for a triple with 3:17 to go. Sophie Dziekan fired the ball to Molly Dever for a corner three, and when Lewis found Olivia Hill for a layup, BGSU's lead was 35 points, the largest of the night, with 1:36 to go, before the Huskies scored the game's final six points.
