Bowling Green Volleyball Announces Spring Competition Dates

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Volleyball program has announced four dates of competition for the 2022 spring season. The action will begin on Saturday, March 19, with the Premier Academy Tournament in Maumee, Ohio. The Falcons continue competition on Saturday, April 2, playing at the Cleveland State Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio.

BGVB will return to the court the following Saturday (April 9) at the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame (GRSHOF) Volleyball Showcase in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The spring season concludes on Saturday, April 16, at the Team Pineapple Spring Tournament in Angola, Indiana.

About the Premier Academy Tournament
The Premier Academy Tournament will be held on Saturday, March 19, in Maumee, Ohio. There are five teams scheduled to compete: Bowling Green, Ashland, Kent State, Ohio, and Toledo. The action starts at 10 a.m. and each match will consist of three sets to 25 points. Spectators must purchase the $10 presale tickets for entry. Tickets can be purchased HERE. Spectator names will be listed at the door, so that is how they will check in for the tournament.
The Falcons begin the day at 10 a.m. on Court 3 against Ohio. They will stay on that court for their 11:15 a.m. match against Kent State, then have a break until 2:30 p.m. Bowling Green will close with a Court 3 showdown with rival Toledo.
About the Cleveland State Tournament
The Cleveland State tournament will be held on Saturday, April 2, in Cleveland, Ohio. Five teams will be competing, with the action starting at 10 a.m. There will be five rounds of competition, with matches played on two courts. Teams will play two sets to 25 points, with an hour break between the second and third rounds. The Falcons begin the day on Court 1 against Robert Morris, then head to Court 2 to take on Cleveland State. BGSU will have an extended break, sitting out of the third round after the 60-minute break. The Orange and Brown will resume play in the fourth round with a showdown with Youngstown State on Court 1, then remain on that court for the final match of the day against St. Francis.
About the GRSHOF Volleyball Showcase
The GRSHOF Volleyball Showcase will be held on Saturday, April 9, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Doors open at 10 a.m. for teams and family members of the teams. Bowling Green will play Oakland on Court 2 at 11:30 a.m., then remain on the court for a 12:45 p.m. matchup with Western Michigan.

At 3:40 p.m., there will be an autograph session with Michigan and Bowling Green. The Falcons will play the Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on the Center Court. The autograph session and match will be open to general spectators. All games will be played at the Sturrus Fieldhouse on the campus of Aquinas College.
About the Team Pineapple Spring Tournament
The Team Pineapple Collegiate Spring Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 16, in Angola, Indiana. There will be three courts of competition, with each court featuring four teams. Court 1 includes Purdue Fort Wayne, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and Butler. Court 2 will showcase the Falcons, as well as Northwestern, Valparaiso, and Toledo. Court 3 features Central Michigan, Ball State, UIC, and IUPUI.
The Falcons start the day at 11:30 a.m. match against Toledo. They remain on the court for a 12:30 p.m. match against Valpariso. After a break, the Falcons conclude with a 2:30 p.m. showdown with Northwestern. All matches will be two sets to 25. The full tournament schedule can be found HERE.
